  • a few questions...

    1. barbarians: where do thea show up?
I had a situation where I couldn't see any barbs coming up, and there was no way they could rech my city coming from thr fog of war in one turn. they attakced it anyway...

    2. slaves: how are they distibuted? is there a maximum number of slaves in a city? one of my cities once turned into a barbarian city, when I moved out my military, does this have anything to do eith the fact, that I had 8slaves (5workers) in that city?

btw, this was in the apolyton mod

    Re: a few questions...

    1. Any locaton with fog of war. I think it is ramdom but they tend to appear near the civilizations.

    2. After the enslavement attack the slave gos for the nearest city that has enough garrison to support the slaves (In the default game 1 units support 3 slaves). If the city cant support mores slaves it looks for the second nearest civ.

They can even occur inside visibility range. They do prefer, however, to appear in the Fog, given a choice.

        thanks a lot

here's a new question about barbs (fascinating thing in ctp2, and hard to get used to them being as strong...)

how is the barbarion unit type determined? Is it based on the year or the techlevel of whoever, or something else?

The best unit current avaible for the most advanced civilization in the game. In other words, the top of line units of its age!

I am not 100% sure about this though. But i am quite sure about this

I thought it was the best unit that all civs had, but I seem to recall AIs getting attacked with cavalry and defending with hoplites. Though that may be a cheat-mode bug.

As you can see in the chat. We, the Lemurians dont have the advance to make samurais. Yet in the last chat a barbarian samurai unit showed up. So it isnt all citis for sure. And i do remember being attacked by much more evolved barbs.

Yeah it is the most advanded unit, although it should be that the barbarians have the least evolved technology still making units, they are barbarians, without a proper economy afterall.

For the Barbarians this is the part you find in the risk.txt:

                      # When choosing barbarian types, all units available to players
                      # are looked at. The best unit that will be considered is the RANK_MAX'th
                      # best unit available to anyone (0 meaning the best unit)
                      # The worst that will be considered is the RANK_MIN'th.
                      # value is determined solely by attack strength.
                      BARBARIAN_RANK_MAX 15
                      BARBARIAN_RANK_MIN 30

These are the values for the random appearings and Brabs from huts in the APOL_risk.txt for the villages only setting they other risk levels have a max rank of 1 and a min rank of 10.
