  • Servers? Via modem?

    Hi there,

    i`m a greenhorn in this forum...Hi!

I love to play CTP2, but there are two problems, so that I could not play with my friend via modem or internet.

    Modem:
We try to establish a connection via modem (tcp/ip). That is ok. We tried some other game which are working. But in ctp2 we dont see each other in the lobby. Sometimes yes....is there something special about the routing? But as said, other games are working....

    Internet:

So we tried to play via internet, but none of us found a server. Were they killed by the barbarians? Is there a list in the net, what toput in the bootserv.txt?

    Thanx and greetings from germany...

Have a look at the Q23 of the FAQ:

You need to get a new servers.dat file.

    As for the modem thing:
You are trying to establish a direct modem connection between your two computers and then you'd like to play? So you're starting through the LAN-Setup in the game? I have never tried that but I'd guess that won't work. Try setting your IP's with only one number difference maybe then, or with the IPX setup?...

You could try connecting the 2 computers via IPX over the internet before you start CtP2 and then start CtP2MP let it search for the network through IPX then. (can you tell i dont know anything about networks? )

I don`t know the english word. In my german windows is an option named DFÜ-Network, means Network via modem, via ppp. So, when I got a connection I can play (normally) all games which supports tcp/ip. We played ctp and ctp2 via that way very often. But its not working any longer and we dont know why....

*Total* aside....There's an option called DFU-Network??? Methinks the folks at Microsoft have an okay sense of humor after all....
