  • Starving in CTP2

I have a question about starving cities in the game. Is there a way to figure out how much food each city has stored or are we suppose to just guess depending on the popup messages?

The city doesnt store food in CTP2. All depends on your base starvaion protection. In the original if aint i with bad memory it is three turns as base, 5 with granary and 10 with Food Silo.

On the city manager screen is a "growth" bar. From that you can figure out how fast your city is growing (I don't know it exactly, but the bigger the number, and the bigger the green bar, the better growth). If the number is negative, and/or the bar red, then you're starving.
      Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?

Not necessarily: if there are slaves in your city the bar may be red (and it will say "starving") but the city is not actually starving. Unfortunately that's a bug and you can't tell your actual food position, directly.

The number (when the bar is green) is the number of people that will be added to the population the next time you run, so if it's 2500 (the maximum I've seen) then the city will grow in 4 turns from a standing start. (At least it works this way in Cradle.)

Sometimes I miss food caravans...but I don't miss DOZENS of them stacked up waiting to build a Wonder.

Yes, that means you have reached the limit your city can have until you build one of the buildings that raise the max pop limit.
