  • Wonder Movies in CTP II

    Hey there, all!

I could not stand it any longer and finally picked up a copy of CTP II on sale! I've been a die hard fan of C: CTP from the start and needed something to take the bitterness of Civ III from my system. I cannot tell you how many times I have kicked myself these past couple of days for waiting so very long to take the plunge! Oh well... my bad.

Where Civ III left me feeling frustrated most of the time (even when doing well in the game) it did nothing to recapture that incredible "just one more turn" feeling that took many, many hours of sleep from me. I had that with Civ I and II (and all its add ons) and with CCTP, but not with Civ III. Thank the maker for CTP II!! It brought back that wonderful feeling and I have been having a blast!

As an historical, board game designer I appreciate all the work put into ALL of the Civ style games, but can also smell when something is being released quick for marketing purposes only. Most companies still haven't figured out that we would rather wait a bit and have the bugs removed that get something in need to patches within a month of release. Oops... sorry... I'll get off that soapbox for now.

I may be asking a question that has already been addressed and if so I humbly apologize, but in doing searches of the forum I did not see a reference to my query, so...

In CCTP the Wonder movies were able to be viewed in full screen within the game via a setting in the game options screen. My aging and tired eyes may have missed it, but I could not find any option for this and there is no mention of this in any of the literature. I would be ever most grateful to any who may know the answer as even at the lower end 800X600 resolution, my eyesight gives me problems enjoying the movies to the fullest (another reason for serious frustration with Civ III... everything is small, small, small on that screen!)

Thanks everyone and I'll be around to converse more with all my fellow Apolytonites... the best bunch of folk in the world!

And we thought Activsion released CTP2 to early. But they didn't need so long to translate CTP2 into German. FIRAXIS want to release the game next March in Germany. So I have to wait if I want to buy a German language version of Civ3. And I thought they have enough practice in translating games. It looks that they started the translation last mounth. At least I won't be abused as beta tester (I hope ).

I wasn't able to figure out it either. In the userprofile.txt should be a line concerning full screen movies, it should be set on Yes if you want them. But unfortunatly the line in my userprofile.txt looks already like FullScreenMovies=Yes. So far it looks that there are no full screen movies available. There are two possible reason for that: On the one hand it could be a bug, but I think it is more likely that they removed this feature, as they removed the black beams from the movies and they removed the wonder description text from the movie and put it into the movie box under the movie.
