  • Succession Game III Poll

Things have sure slowed down with our game.
Well, it was an ambitious effort going for a gigantic map with 16 civs. Everyone who participated so far has done a terrific and creative job. I remember several posts where I laughed out loud at some of the hilarity.

Anyway, if you guys want to throw in the towel, let's have a vote and see if there's a simple majority.

In light of the events here in America, I can understand that CTP2 succession games have become somewhat lesser in priority.
I've barely touched my PC in almost a week. Glued to the news broadcasts and wondering how and when the U.S. will retaliate.

    So... what's the verdict gamers?
Shall we call Succession Game 3 quits? Does someone what to take the game and run with it to the end, posting a final summary of what happened?

In either case, It's been great gaming with you guys and I hope we can all do it again with CIV III.

I've gone back to school, and have very little time for playing.

Along with recent events, this has killed this forum.

As SG4 died as well, I think it would be better if we just leave it now, there is no more enthusiasm for the game anywhere. The 3 topped threads in the mod section have lain quiet, Cradle is pretty much done, I think its time to say "well done everyone, and thanks to everyone who stuck around to make the best of it"

    Civ3 awaits, we'll SG again.

(and if Civ3 doesn't have a SLIC-equivalent, I'll flood their inbox with so much spam they wont know what to do )

A pity, but I think the game is finished. My vote is to finish the succession game at this point. If it is ended here I want to offer to play the game out, and write a result/history posting to this site.

If people want to keep going as a succession game, I am still in.

(OOPS just realised I could have voted for someone to finish it off, which I wanted to do, rather than finish at this point, which is what I accidentally did vote for. Like they say in Florida, remember to read the ballot paper before voting)

I think the lessons to learn from this particular round is that

        1. 16 civs makes for very long turns

        2. having more than 10 players makes the wait between turns far too long and people lose interest

Having a website to post the transcripts is probably also a key to success.

All that said, we should just let a couple of guys who have the time to finish the rest of the game....

Good point Phoenix. And we did have way to many civs...and the map size...

Anyway, I vote for the throwing of the towel, in an inwards direction.

            I vote for finish it

I don't care to end this game only with 2 or 3 gamers, I mean, this game had been too long to trow it now. I want to see the gaia end 'cos none of my games in single player I got that end.

Come on, how many can continue it?

It looks like the vote stands to let someone take the game and run posting a final summary.

Chris Horscroft has offered to take the game and post a final summary. If there are no objections or other candidates in 7 days... then Chris.. Go ahead with it!

As it were, I will probably be visiting this site rather infrequently from now until the end of the year.
So let me just take the time to say great job everyone! Succession gaming was quite an enjoyable experience, and I hope we can all do it again come CIV 3.

Great idea - same game, alternative histories. Maybe there's a whole new style of "succession" game in there...

Its been good playing with all you guys, my vote goes to throw in the towel but, i wish you all goodluck on your game. Cant wait to see how it turns out. With college and all i dont have the desire or the time to play. Maybe we can do it again with Civ3 someday.

I think a similar thing has been tried by the civ2 players, but they entitled it "same game challenge"
