  • Before I order the game...

Ok, i'm planning to order the game today.
And I will do it even if you tell me that the game sucks.

Is there something I should know, before buying it?

And will it run on P200?

Note : I NEVER played CTP-I, so this can make the game more interesting for me.

        I would not recommend playing Ctp1 or 2 on a P200.

depending on your patience(some have no problem waiting for several seconds others call "long wait" a delay of 1 second) you will probably have to play with less civs, on smaller maps and on a smaller resolution.

i have succesfully played ctp1 on p166 and there have been good remarks for ctp2 on low machines. do a search in this forum for related threads

Ok, this is aproximately what I expected.

I'm used to low res and waiting time so it's not a problem.

                  Depends...if you've got a P200 with 16MB of RAM, don't bother, but if you've got something like 128MB then you'll be fine...and a good 2d graphics card would help.

                    Eli,

Don't worry. I'm running CtP2 on a system very similar to yours (P200 MHz MMX, 64MB) and it runs fairly smoothly, even at 1024x768 and with Seti running in the background, at least on regular maps with 6 civs. If you want to play on Gigantic maps with 16 civs you might want to turn off Seti and go to a lower resolution but if you do it'll still run fairly fast. (One piece of advise: don't even try the Alexander the Great scenario unless you're *very* patient ).

PS I do have a 12MB Voodoo II graphics card, but CtP2 isn't very demanding graphics-wise so that shouldn't make too much of a difference.

Damn wouter, you are doing all the SLIC and you are running a P200. Maybe we need to take up a collection for you.

Yeah, it should be fine on your system.

I have a 16MB Voodoo III, but I've noticed the movies look very grainy...is that just the movies, or is it the fact that I only have a 3D-oriented card or something?

                        Hmm, maybe it's just me.

There is a download at my site called Med Readmes. Get it, and read the Misc. Readme. It tells you how to increase the time settings for the AI so that it will have more time, and it will need more time, to make its decisions.

Basically you need to fix a few things. After putting in the
activision patch, you definitely need the Diplomod 3.2b or
higher and for the late game you need to increase the size
of the citys. See my recommendation on forum creation page
for city size of 102. Its down around Feb 11. There are
more minor bugs. Lastly you probably need to juice up the
military AI. There is alot of discussion on this but for
the scenario the 'Frenzy' mod is a must for challenging
                              the human military.
