  • very unusual problem, need some help here :)

Now I've got a unusual but serious problem.
I've played CTPII since it's release, and re-installed it a couple of times. And installed the patch each time. Today, I was gonna re-install again. I uninstalled and reinstalled. Ran the patch... "Unable to verify the location of Call to power 2 on your system". GODDAMNIT!! :|

I've never had these probs before. I have searched for a cause, and I checked the registry for CTPII. It's there allright, even the uninstall path is correctly entered.

Anyone got any ideas on how to solve the ******* problem?

Yes Apollon, I too have run into this problem in the past. I discovered that If you have CTP2 loaded twice on your computer (ie, once on your "C" drive and again on your "D" drive), the game gets confused as to where it should run from.

The way I solved this was to open the directories on both of my hard drives and physically delete all CTP2 files on both drives, then restart and reload CTP2 - but only on one drive

I myself don't know why I had the game loaded twice, but it was - so you have to physically go in and remove all of the CTP2 files. Using the Add/Remove Programs option will only remove one of the copies, since it doesn't recognise that the other copy exists...but the CTP2 game does.

    I hope this helps

      Great thanx, cheers.
I never thought the damn patch would be that stupid Strange that it isn't using the registry entry instead.
It works anyway, I even had to delete a backup folder on my desktop!

      LOL

I bet Activision made the patch look for the directory by itself, instead of using the registry.

They wouldn't want people with the cracked ISO to play they game would they
