  • How old are u?

Just out of curiosity I wonder how old are the people that play this game? I am 24. Am I an old fart that like’s to play a kid game or is this normal?

    You're a youngster!

I got hooked at school when all we had were Tandys, Sinclair Z80's and one Apple II. Man you used to be able to do a lot with 16k of memory before VGA was introduced. Shame the AI is often still as dodgy. I'm now 34 and know plenty of people older than me who game regularly. Computers are a godsend for ex-tabletop wargamers and boardgamers who are no longer able to spend a week face-to-face playing a single game. Clicking 'save' is so much easier than recording the position of all those counters heh heh.
To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

Civ games are not kids games as it takes time and thought and can be pursued leisurely (like chess). Real Time games that require little thought or attention but lots of frantic work are for the kiddies(like playground games).
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

you'd be surprised as to the average age of civ players.

We have a list in the apolyton forum of about 250 Apolytoners with their ages... and the average age is about 25

which also happens to be my age.

And I'm just a bit older at 26 years, 2 days. But technically, I don't qualify for this thread, since I haven't got CtP2 yet. I play C:CtP, though.

I am 23 and a undergraduate university student going for a BA in History - guess where my interest in Civ and CTP games came from?

(eventually I will obtain a PhD in History to become a university professor in - surprise - history)

I am 24 and have returned to school to become a history teacher. I've been playing Civ games since I was in high school.

I turned 30 a few months ago. When I was in Canada I felt a bit embarrassed about walking into a computer game store. It seemed childish or something. Now that I live in Korea, however, where everyone from 10 to mid-30s is a Starcraft maniac, I don't feel it's odd for an 'older' person to play computer games. Especially strategy type games which require lots of thought and skill. Before he left for Taiwan, my 50-something year old co-worker and I played Civ2 on the university's LAN. After hours, of course.

I'm 16, started playing Civ games several years ago.

But then my mental age has always been about 652 years older than my actual age.

I got bored with my Churchill quote (and was tired of people telling me I misquoted him).

                              I'm 28.

I got hooked on the Mac version of the original Civ when I started college in 1990. I've been playing Civ games ever since . . . and love it!

(Although it shows I'm a "Settler", I've been perusing Apolyton for a long time, I just don't comment very often.)
