  • What is a SLIC?

    Forgive my ignorance, but....

I keep seeing this acronym being mentioned in various threads, so what does it mean?

SLIC is a scripting language (sort of a very simple programming language) that you can use to change all kinds of things in your game. FE every time a city is created, create a unit in that city. Check out the various *.slc files in the various CtPII folders (esp. in the Alexander scenario there's a lot of interesting stuff). Activision should release documentation about it any day now that might provide you with some more info.

Since installing the new patch all i get is SLIC errors everytime a unit moves (mine and AI's).

Nice game shame about the bugs!

Are you trying to play from a saved gave that you had before the patch installed? If so, I'm of the understanding it won't work.

In another thread, someone mentioned /reloadslic or similar, and I am not certain if that would help you. You might try doing a search for it. It may be that the SLIC business needs a refresh in your game.

Yeah, older saved games probably don't work with the patch. Sorry. And as for SLIC,it stands for Scripting Language Interface Convention, but if you ask me, I'd rather call it Satan's Little Instruction Code too. Or the name I eventually got vetoed on: CAll To Power Environment Enhancement, or CATPEE for short.

You know... I have ten cats. Ten. And they are all involved in my conquest of the planet via CTP2 in some fashion. The CATPEE acronymn would just be -sooo- appropriate.
