  • What I don't like about Terraforming

Got CTP2 the other day, looks Ok but...

One thing I noticed, is that with the correct Tech it seems possible to Terraform any Terrain into any other Terrain.

Yes I know it cost's more PW point's, but I feel a little uncomfortable with being able to go straight to Grassland from Desert, without having to go to Plains first.

From a certain point of view it could look like a time saving feature, as you could argue that you would only go straight to Grassland after Plains anyway so this saves you doing 2 actions, where 1 would suffice.

But this leads to the situation where if you have enough PW points you can dump a tile of Grassland up in the Artic in one action. This in my mind twists reallity somewhat.

I don't know what the rest of you think of this aspect of the game, but all I'd say is that in Civ2 to go from Desert to Grassland took lot's of turns and in the end you felt like you earned it more than in CTP2.

In terrain.txt you can change the terraforming requirements to make it impossible to change arctic terrains, or at least to make hugely expensive, and require Fusion or something.

With the higher expense perhaps you can assume that it did go to grassland first but kept on being changed?
