I saw a post by mcrusader saying that the cubans and the nicaraguans are no good, I've also heard many people say that it makes them feel better kicking american ass then cuban ass. To me it dosen't matter, this isin't age of empires it's ctp.

i also, have no real preference, especially since the personality is always different in ctp (unlike civ 1/2 where green was always war, and yellow always tech, etc.) but i have to admit, its always was fun kickin cuba or some other small country's butt back to the stone age. it's like...go back to the third world country you are...you are not worthy to get my techs (j/k) but seriously, withthe personality randimizer, the country name has little effect on how i act toward them. its all about how they treat me. which is nice.

Stratesford: I agree with you! It doesnt matter since personalty is random. Also I dont like a civ game to be a 1:1 copy of the real world! I like the civ game to take the real world only as a model. The outcome should always be different.
When in one game the Cubans are a good civ and my favourite ally. In the next game they could be the best civ and my arch-enemy! And in the next they could suck so much!
This is a much more interesting process: Finding out how strong your opponent is and what capabilities it has! Unlike Civ2 where you knew: Russians = strong, Sioux = weak,... .

I like to give leader personalities. It`s much more fun that way. I usually play the game with someone as well.Either MP games,or together with someone. It seems a bit crazy, but the game gets better at once you start to talk about the EVIL CUBANS.And really just hate them so much that nothing in the world is worse than cubans.
This hate for Cuba usually stays in me for a game or two until someone else try to kill my civ.

I honestly think that looking down on other civs isn't fair play. Also, not every civ was born to colonise the world: some of them may choose to have little territory but make it impossible to conquer, or choose to be just a pain in the ass for a bigger civ.
So I wouldn't be upset if I found the Danish in ctp2..."Que me odien, con tal de que me teman". Caligula.

But like someone mentioned in the other thread, it kind of feels weird playing with or against a civ that didn't really make an impact on world history. One of the draws of the genre is that it gives you the illusion of rewriting history. The civs you play against gives a sort of 'credibility' to the illusion.

I know, the vikings are undiscussable. They discoverd amerika long before colombus, they controlled Scandinavia,Iceland,Greenland and almost all of england ,founded Dublin and a lot of other cities.
The killed, raped, destroyd, plundered, took slaves and burned everything in their way.
And we are definatly proud of it

I actually enjoy playing with civs that are around today than ones that died years ago. I also like playing against the most powerful/ publised in the real world- I find I can relate to it more.

Actually, this has already been discussed several times. There's no differnece. In Civ2 there's some, in AoE2, there's a great difference, in CTP there's NO difference.
