  • Sail around World feat

Have a look at this screenshot, apparently ive sailed around the world and gained the feat for it, but look at the minimap you can see i havent sailed all way around.

Its a gigantic doughnut map on the default unmodded game and i havent sailed around it vertically either. You can see which unit i got the feat with and you can see where it sailed to and from.

Maybe its just that i sailed and uncovered so much unexplored terrain with the same unit that it gave me the feat? Or that i almost sailed around the world vertically?

IIRC it just checks if you visited all x-coords at least once, or something like that. Since those coords are layed out along a diagonal rather than horizontal axis, you don't actually have to travel all the way around the world to get the feat. If you travel in a straight line, you have to go all around the world, if you go in diagonal line at a right angle to the x-axis, you only have to travel about 50% of the map, I think (not quite sure though - too lazy to do the math now ).

I admit though that I haven't often seen such a skewed situation as this one... Maybe the doughnut thingie is screwing things up as well? It counts either x or y coords on such maps?

Well I got this feat once I was playing the Seven Samurai scenario. IIRC this scenario plays on a flat map, x and y warp should be turned of. At least I never crossed the borders of this map.

Does that come from official sources then? It could become something to really aim for if its that easy.

If the above statement is true then its very likely. More testing is required...

No, but the issue came up once or twice before and some tests were done by me and/or others at the time. Not very thorough tests, but I IIRC my earlier explanation was our conclusion.

Refresh my memory, can this feat be achieved by using two ships which sail half the world each?

Two ships? I don't think so. I once tried doing that, but only one of my ships managed to do it, and it had to circumnavigate the world.
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

I confirm that this has nothing to do with donuts, as I got it on a standard map.
I also think you need a single ship to do it because I once sailed with various ships all arounf the globe and got no feat for it.

Yeah the coracle that got the feat on the screenshot sailed all the way from the bottom of my home island at the bottom of the minimap. I always seem to get this feat inadvertently and the theaters one too.

                          Found it.

BTW i started it in LAN mode so it would start quicker with more settlers.
