  • What do trade and science pacts do?

I can't find my manual right now and forgot what trade and sciecne pacts do.

If I have a trade pact do I have to have trade with them? If I don't send caravans there do they get mad and cancel and declare war?

If I have a science pact does it just cost money and I get more science, or do I have to give or trade my science tech to them?

Also is it worth it to join in?

    Thanks

    Davor

The science pact is broken, it doesnt give any science boost as i recall and they dont give you their advances regardless either. I dont know if the trade pact works as it should, ie give bonus gold for each trade route between your two countries, i never bother with it.

The only advantage i can think of to have a science pact is to show the other AI's youre a nice guy. The longer you hold a treaty with someoneand the more you do the things you promised to do, the more trust you gain with other civs, im not sure if this works for pacts like the science pact too though.

When the server load is very high the server stops registering views to save bandwidth and processor power.

Anyway, didn't a research pact give an AI a free advance every turn? I seem to recall such a thing but I'm not sure...

I always thought they did damn little for the human player. Am I right?

                  science pact

What happens is that the civ you have the pact with seems to get a new advance every turn, only prob is that unless you do not have that advance it is of no use to you. So you must force them to stop researching certain advances in order to make them research something you have not got.

If it is an advance you don't have, you have to then offer and request to exchange technologies, if you have nothing for them they would not give you anything. If you pick a weak civ then for a few goes you can threaten them with war. Eventually no amount of threats or persuasion will make them give you the tech, so you must go to war with them to break off the pact. I think someone disabled it, and that was a good thing, useless idea that did not work properly.

Trade pacts, another useless thing that I never have seen the benefit of. The only reason for using them is to enhance your reputation with other civs.
