Hey, whats the trick on dismissing units? When I dismiss them, I don't get credit in production. As I recall (from a year ago) there was a certain way they had to be disbanded for you to get credit for them.

Yeah, inside. I'm in that brown screen that shows the units fortified in the city. There is an activiate and a disband button. Last night, I was building something and had some extra nomads I didn't have any use for - so I disbanded them. Didn't see any change to the "number of turns" for the item in production.
Do you have to do it from the map view? I may have to experiment with this.

I am almost positive that that is what you have to do in order to get credit for disbanding a unit. I believe that was also the case with CTP. Let us know what you find.
Okay, here is the important fact I discovered - try this trick on your current game (but don't save).
Get a city that is building something that has several turns to run. The city must have two units of equal size (the more expensive the unit, the better).
If you delete from inside the city panel (go into the city and hit "UNITS" tab, then click on one of the units and "DISBAND"), you will see the unit disappear with NO change to the production time left on the item being producted. This represents historical charity, and it is a stupid thing.
If you pull up the city unit from the map (click on the city to select it, then use the MAP "UNITS" tab to get at Army Manager, and THEN select the "X" button to disband) the unit disbands, BUT THE CITY SHOULD SHOW A MARKED DROP IN PRODCTION TIME FOR THE GOOD.
In short, there is a bug inside the city disband which does not credit you for disbanding units. Always use the disband feature at the map level.
Thanks, BV. I guess I was lucking out because I always disbanded the "right" way. BTW, this sounds like a clone of a Civ2 bug. Disbanding from one screen you got credit, from another you didn't.
Post this info in the FAQ section - its a handy one to know.
