How to change default AI nations?

I'm sure this is a newbie question, but I'm sick of playing against the Americans, Brits, Scots, etc...

How do I get the system to randomly pick a nation rather than always apply this default (and always make me meet the American's first)?

I've seen the Leader Randomizer mod, but though it will get me a new leader, not a new nation (right?).

Any help appreciated...

Open the userprofile.txt in your ..\ctp2_program\ctp\ folder and change the line:

NonRandomCivs=Yes to NonRandomCivs=No and enable the write protection of this file.

That would be the first possibility. So far as I know this problem occurs if your playing on beginner level, therefore the second sollution is to raise the level of difficuilty. The AI is very dump also a beginner shouldn't have a problem to play the game on impossible in the default unmodded game.

But even so I don't see the changes for choosing the opposing nations.

Thanks Martin, change the propety value and now I'm in a new world.

Woke to found my settler surrounded by units from another nation. Fortunately this time it wasn't the Irish, it was the Indians and Ghandi signed a peace treaty with me on the first turn I met them.
