  • Still cracking.....

awhile ago i mentioned that i was finding a solution to the mplayer issue. No, im not gone. Im still cracking and making ALOT of progress. I suspect a few months ill be able to actually fix my mplayer! Me and my brother have ran several goes at it at we've progressed very far with few Re-syncs. Hopefully ill have a patch bye the end of the year, for all on apolyton, to download.

    For now, sit tight.

btw, the MP problem has to do with TGA size actually ripping the application page. Not a faulty CTP-2 Server as some suggested early on.

ill update you periodically (every few months)..my next update i should be able to report the creaton of a patch.

Thanks all for your support and (tech) info , to those who I have asked

Anything you do to help would be appreicated.
I would love to start playing MP, but nobody really does.
It seems PBEM keeps CTP alive, anybody working on that or is that immpossible with cracking the exe?

Do you have an idea how to crack the ctp2.exe? I don't know if someone is there who want and can make a hack patch. CivCTPFan were are you?

No. The PBEM works easily, but without any diplomacy at all, and that can't be done.

Just a note. I remember that Loctus said that he could make MPdiplomacy possible trough slic, if anyone was interested.

I think that current CTPII mods made the best Civ singleplayer game so far and just a proper diplomacy for MP is still missing.

That would be for the MP players and of course it would make more people to play this game.

Now here is a quote from the tut2_main.slc

              tut2_main.slc line 269
//note to self: bad design always finds a way of biting you right on the b***
              tut2_main.slc line 284
//oh, baby, show me your workaround face
I think this hits the nature of this game: Bad design but most of that can be fix without modifying the ctp2.exe, but some things are hardencoded I hope this is not true for MP diplomacy. Locututus should release what he has or ask him to take a look on it. You know more than four eyes see more than two eyes four hands can more than two hands and two heads can find more ideas than one head.

Locutus PBEM slic is available on his website. It is by no means complete though, and is very complex I think.

Well me and my brother get together once a week to play CTP2 for only 1-3 hours...and using my updated files we are currently dueling with tanks and helicopters. So we have had very few resyncs...somthing that was impossible before.

However the nuke explosion does cause a big crash ..

anyway as for PBEM diplmacy slic...that would be great! Only if someone was working on it

still working on how to get several big problems out of the way.
1)Will it work via IP if both party's use the same updated (smaller, but slower) TGAs ?
                      2) Solving the nuclear crash
3)fixing the stupid the spy error(Icons are all mixed up and when you go to hit spy he does somthing else)..
4)and solving any other forseeable problems that will probably come...

                      im still working guys...

MY GAME HAS ENTERED THE GENETIC AGE!

No resync crashes, still at war, and just not nuking.

another problem- Eyestrain from reduced targas

LOL, I think faded gave up on CtP2 ages ago, Martin. You could try PMing him but I doubt he's still working on this.

                              faded glory,
No-resyncs at GeneticAge!!! that's great. Keep up the good work
I must admit in multiplayer i've never got far enough to use nukes, so i didn't know that was a problem.
Could someone explain to me the exact nature of the multiplayer diplomacy problem? The reason i ask is that i have been succsesfull in player to player diplomacy(ie recieve proposal for peace-treaty from player A - counterd with agreement plus exchange of maps - the transaction takes place). I've exchanged techs this way too, so i'm a bit puzzled as to what the problem is???
Oh i only play over LAN as well.

EDIT: gues who didn't get enough sleep last night! I just noticed the date on faded's post. I wonder what came of the code he was talking about????
