Shame on Activision for not having an Austrian civ!!!!!
One of the most important countries in Europe isnt available, Austria was equaly big as Germany and France, because of the fact that it was a doublestate empire (Austrians+Slavs). Until the end of the 1st world war it contained the north of Italy, Austria Yugoslavia, and the Slavs)
And btw. Austria started the 1st. World War more or less

As you say, the Austrian-Hungary monarchy was an European superpower before WW1.

You can try to change one of the existing civilizations into the Austrian civilisation by editing the data files. You can find the civilisations in the file: Call To Power 2\ctp2_data\default\gamedata\civilisation. The other things that you need to change you can find in the file: Call To Power 2\ctp2_data\german\gamedata or if you have the english version in the file: Call To Power 2\ctp2_data\english\gamedata\civ_str.

Yes, I agree with you all. There simply MUST be an Austrian Civilization in the game. In CTP1 I was able to add the Austrians, but of some reason, I couldn't do it in CTP2...

And the only other thing you need to watch out for is the parchment icon. In the civilisation.txt there is reference to parchment...

          CIV_PARCHMENT ##

You can add your own backdrop for the diplomacy scene. You just have to add a new number and place an image in the [install directory]/ctp2_data/default/graphics/pictures in the form of updg##.tga I found the appropriate size to approximately 250x310 with the top 45 being similar to the backdrop of the diplomacy screen. Also the image has to be a more mute colour, so you can still read the diplomacy text. But if you don't wish to add a parchment just choose a number that is used by another civ... but either way... you can't skip this line. Other than the basic increasing # of civs in the civilisation.txt file there's nothing new to the adding of another civ... oh yea and the personalities must match files that are contained in the personalities.txt found in default/aidata folder... and the diplomat photo line has no bearing in the game now so don't worry about adding a diplomatic photo, the parchment has replaced that.. that should be it.

Austro-Hungary was part of the Triple Alliance, with germany and Italy (even though Italy left before the war) and France, Britain(including Canada and the other colonies) and Russia were the Triple Entente(SP?)

theres your history lesson for today

                  Why rename Pheonecia??????
Rename Nicaragua or Cuba, in my opinion
"It is ridiculous claiming that video games influence children. For instance, if Pac-Man affected kids born in the 80's we should by now have a bunch of teenagers who run around in darkened rooms and eat pills while listening to monotonous electronic music."

I never play those ancient civs!
Cuba is cool! I would never rename cuba!
I could also rename Rome. I have never played them. And I dont care against who I play. For there is no difference than a single name. Well I am not that superficial.
