  • 8+ cities?

What changes do I need to make to be able to play with more than 8 civs?

  • #2
go to userprofile.txt in call to power 2\ctp2_program\ctp\

Then change numplayers variable to any number between 3 and 32 number of civs will be this number minus one for barbarians

IMPORTANT... do not change civ count using in-game interface do not even click on option as this will overwrite the .txt file

In userprofile.txt change the line NumPlayers=x where x is the number of players (including barbarians).

In CtP1 there was another variable in the userprofile.txt that had to be changed...maxplayers or something like that, pertaining to the maximum number of civs allowed in the game including new civs that sprang up due to revolutions. If NumPlayers is X, change this other variable to X+5 (or so) to accomodate new civilizations.

True but only change this if you want new civs to spring up...

The game crashes when I start it up after changing that userinfo.txt file.

Silly question...but you are exiting game changing it and then restarting it I presume?..if yes at what point does it crash?
                You meant userprofile.txt not userinfo.txt I hope

                  Yeah, I meant userprofile.txt

It crashes when I'm in the screen where I need to choose what I want to have in my world (before I play - # of players, barbarian activity, world size etc.). I click on number of players button to change it to 16, and the game throws me back to Windows.

Yeah, the only thing is that you can't click on the box to choose the # of civs. You have to choose in the text files, every time you want to change the number you have to go to the text file. Just keep away from that button and everything should be fine
