  • Note to Activision!!!

As I am sitting here taping my multi-piece, and throughly man-handled, wall chart from CTP1, I would like to take this opportunity to ask Activision to PLEASE(!!!) give us ONE-SIDED wall charts for CTP2 that we can hang on the wall and not have to spend our game playng time with one hand on the mouse and the other flip-flopping a giant piece of paper over and over!!!

    Hear, hear!

Listen to this person! I'd have them permanently stuck on my wall if it wasn't double-sided.

It would be nice to have two posters, with all of info that was included on the CTP1 chart. But my wall is currently filled up with game posters now.

And that would cut into the profit margins...unless the price of the game was raised.

I hope Activision can get all the info on one side, but then you would hear griping that the type is too small.

      No-one is ever happy!

I hope they plan to include a chart. I found it very very useful!

Or, they could put the chart on the disk somewhere, so that we could print it out ourselves as we saw fit, ala the charts for the Med mod.
I haven't used the chart which came with the game since last year.

I would like NOT to use a chart, but my brain is getting old and soft. And I DETEST having to constantly pull up little charts to get my info. When I am planning strategies, I like to look at the BIG picture all at once, not piece together a bunch of pull up charts. And besides, I prefer to hold a cold beer in my non-mouse hand, not this chart!!!

A one sided chart (ala civ II) is a good idea - units, wonders, terrain, goods, advances (and whatever i left out) all on one side. While i don't hang it up, by flipping it over, and over, it gets warn way too quickly...the tape went on within days. and i am sure it would be in peices now if CTP I had as much playablility as CTP II seems like it may, or hopes to have

You're right - CTP2 needs to come out with a poster, one-sided, to help us keep track of what technologies lead to what. There are just to many for people like me to memorize. Besides, when you have a poster on the wall pronouncing your addiction to CTP you feel someone good about yourself... or at least I do.

Thanks again. Consider the chart on my wall already.

I would worry about the damn game more than the stupid wall chart. You know I pre-ordered the first in the understanding that I would receive a wall chart... I got two, one from Electronics Botique and another from Activision :/

We will be including another tech tree poster. We won't be including two charts. I'll look into finding another way to present the data charts, but I think that there are too many stats to fit into the back of the manual in a readily accessible format.

Who needs a tech tree poster? When planning their technological advances, no one in reality knows what they are going to aim for in a thousand years time. I don't use the thing at all, you don't need to if you know what you're doing.

Well, you need the chart to initially learn what you are doing. Also, if you add a lot of stuff to the game and switch other things around (Med mod), then you need it to keep things straight. I have to use the Med mod's Advances Chart now to make sure I am heading towards what I need at the time, and I designed the mod!

                          Note to Lt. John;

Gedrin made a version of the Chart that looks just like the one which shipped with the game, though you need Adobe Acrobat to view it. If Activision would ship a similar file with the game it would be great, though the Microsoft file that Morgoth's wife initially made and I customized for the Med mod would be fine as well.
This way, mod-makers would have something to build off of, and normal users could refer to it or/and print out copies as needed when they get worn.
Other stats could be done as well. I am sure that the designers have such files for reference; why not include them in the game when the values are finalized?

                            Wes...

There are a few minor mistakes on that.
Like colour coding and I forgot to remove the Alpha Transporter. And the Nuke is in the wrong place...
and the helicopter and cruise missile and balloon and and and... well it's close but was more of an after thought that I put in my XLS so that easy comparisions could be made to the original chart.

I never the original charts anymore...
                            I mean really...
                            muskets first then cannons?
Human Genome mapped without the need for computers?
                            Subneural Ad without mind control?
                            etc etc etc

WesW: I dont like the idea of printing it out on my own! The file should be additional (if at all)!
Letting me printing the chart out is really NOT customer friendly!
