  • Turn Chat #19: 1260 BC - 1200 BC (Turn 137 - 140)

This is the turn thread of turn chat #19.

    Date of chat: Sunday 2003/04/06
    Start of chat: 18:30 GMT
    Estimated duration: 3-4 hours
Place: #lemuria channel of Apolyton Chat Room.

    Instructions for entering chat room:

Java (note: untested, can't guarantee these instructions are flawless):
    a) Go to http://apolyton.net/misc/chat/room.shtml
    b) If you don't get any Java errors (the Java chat doesn't seem to work equally well on all PCs), fill in username and click connect.
    c) type '/join #lemuria' to join the Lemuria channel.

    mIRC:
    a) Download mIRC from http://www.mirc.com/get.html and install it (1,15 MB download)
    b) Open mIRC options (should open automatically when you start mIRC; if not, File -> Options), and in the Connect screen, click 'Add' to add a server. Fill in description (Apolyton), server (apolyton.net) and port (6667). Then press 'OK'.
    c) Fill in full name, email and nickname and press 'Connect to IRC Server' if Apolyton is selected as server (should be if you added it and didn't change it afterwards).
    d) A new screen will open and connect you to Apolyton. Once there, type '/join #lemuria' to join the Lemuria channel.

A little late for asking for orders so I won't bother with that...

Chat postponed 24 hours, due to a lack of participants (Tamerlin showed up after about an hour, IW after about two -- too little, too late).

The chat will now be held tomorrow, Monday 7 April, 18:30 GMT (NOT BST!).
    To avoid confusion: that's 19:30 BST, 20:30 CE(S)T, 14:30 EST, 11:30 PST.

        Locutus,

maybe you should announce them a bit earlier?

I am not sure, if I can make it tonight

I announced it last Wednesday already but apparently noone reads the Government Announcement thread... (You know, the thread we indicated would be used for important announcements?)

I think it was written to small......... You might want to use bigger characters..................

OK, just joking: I think the reason, why I didn't see it, was because Tamerlin replied to quickly.........I mainly just read the most bottem one, as the GOTO lastpost doesn't always work........

I always look up the last post I remember reading and read everything from that point on. But I guess I'm just weird...

Normally same for me, expressed myself not good enough, but when I open the thread, it was looking like that Tamerlin's post was the last one and therefore I must have missed yours.........

This should be trivial but I'll repeat it once again: I urge all ministers to either leave behind clear orders and/or to appoint delegates when they're not absolutely 100% sure they will be present during the chat. If I'm missing orders or ministers/delegates, the chat has to be cancelled altogether...

ok, meanwhile i'm sure i won't be online tonight (unless for the first 45 minutes perhaps). my list of delegates has already been posted in the delegate thread, i hope its long and flexible enough.

                      orders:
Dpt of Diplomay: kindly ask the germans to leave our lands (as discussed in the diplomacy thread). ask the hebrews as well, though it won't bring much effort. give some gold and try again after a few turns, if initial negotitaions dont succeed. be nice to everyone else but don't give them anything for free. don't grant peace on austria unless we are facing an unforeseen strong enemy in war.

Dpt of Science: research geometry, after that research shipbuilding (if it can be researched in 1 turn) after that iron working after that shipbuilding if it can be researched in one turn, after that (doubt you'll make it that far) you're on your own.

                      Dpt of Trade:
establish coal trade as discussed in the according thread, establish wheat trade as soon as we have the number of caravans we need avaiable. change plans on your own mind if we get worthier tradegoods through military conquest before we establish those routes mentioned above.

                      any further questions?

                        Sounds good

I think I have sufficient orders from the MoD, MoDA and MoDST. That just leaves the MoI...

If in doubt, build nothing, let the PW accumulate.

The chat ended very soon as the Germans back-stabbed us and took Wombatoon

The good news it that only 2 German Archers survived the attack so retaking the city should be a walk in the park.

Please all use the next few days to discuss our strategy now...
