Never! I'm convinced that we have to destroy them. We need the cities in order to grow and we'll soon have new enemies on our hands.
If however someone decided to attack us while Austria hasn't been destroyed yet, then it would probably be more prudent to make peace with them and concentrate on the new enemy.

I have already expressed my opinion on this subject in the thread mentionned in Zaphod's post.

IMO it would be a mistake to wage this war until the ultimate destruction of the Austrians. We need to conquer more cities (Pilsen, Brunn and possibly Wiener Neustadt and St Polten) and stop the war as soon as we reach this objectives as we must concentrate on building science, production and happiness improvements.

hm, does anybody have a log of what happened in diplomacy between 2760 bc and 1260 bc?

edit: i mean any more comprehensive log than "just read the turnchat logs" ?

As the minister of Defense, I would like to request a withdraw agreement with the Germans!

If they want to be our friends, the big stacks walk among our territory must stop.

Should we give any gold first? (I will authorize giving a small sum of gold)

according to the diplomacy manager they respect us and completely trust us. so gold might not ne necessary. as their leader is described as "evil genius" its rather probable, they will accept anything as long as its good for them, and break those treaties without much thought as well, if it fits them. on the long term that means, we should give the thais aid if we can, to keep the germans busy.

back to the question: try it without money first, if they don't accept, give some money the next turn and ask again a few turns later.

what purpose should a threat have? they should know we wouldn't be a strong foe

If over the next couple of turns we can't get a peace treaty with the Germans(after taking wombertoon back?), then we should do a deal with the Austrians so at least we will only be fighting on one front.

                        news from the foreign office:
                        1420 b.c.:
we meekly offered the germans a mutual nontrespasstreaty which was accepted.
                        same happened with the hebrew.

1380 b.c.: germans declare war on england and take wombatoon by a surprise attack.

diplomacy log for the turn chat:
                            1200 bc:
meekly offered the english 100 gold, to better our relations, they accepted.

unfortunately we lacked these 100 to buy citywalls in wells the next turn, so:

                            1180 bc:
meekly asked to give us 100 gold in exchange for our maps to india, thailand, scotland and (what was the other nation who likes us?)
                            all rejected, no threats made.
