we have 4 different sciences we can research:
1. Shipbuilding (2 turns) which would give us the possibillty to construct huge fleets of coracles to rule the seas and wide arrays of nets to catch all the fish. of course we would have to find some water before. also this would enable us to research alchemy (fire trireme, a worthy addition to our non-existant navy) and hullmaking (longship, port) once we have geometry.
2. masonry (3 turns) which will allow us to construct aqueducts, which will enable our biggest cities to grow even more (at the moment they still can grow, though slowly) by reducing the happiness mali due to overpopulation and enabling a greater citysize, as well as a wonder that sadly has already been built by some other nation. the path leads from here to concrete (arenas and another wonder already built) and feudalism (knights!, pikemen!, capitol)
3. iron working (4 turns) which would allow us to build samurais, fast and strong offensive units. this road leads to cannonmaking, modern metallurgy and the printing press, but thats a long long road yet.
4. geometry (13! turns) which gives us the catapult, an awesome ranged weapon, slow but bringing horrible death from above as this is the first unit able to bombard. in the longrun this will give us access to classical education (universities, need bureaucracy, which needs feudalism, which needs masonry!), hullmaking (see 1.) shipbuilding) and physics, which will be a very long way to go.
5. pepsi flavoured vanilla coke (aka abstain)
NOTE: at the moment we are currently researching geometry which was cleary choice #2 after horseriding according to the last poll. the game is currently going on via the turn thread. should this poll bring a quick result that something else should be researched, the goal will be changed, if that result will come at a moment, where we would have to waste research points already spent by going back to a faster science, i doubt that will be changed, unless very strong reasons will be named.
