      Overview of our cities:

Green lines indicate objects that should be added to a Build Queue

Pedrunnia (Turns before growth: 18) (Garrison: 3 Hoplites and 3 Archers)
      Hoplite (3) (1400 Gold)
      Archer (2)
      Hoplite (3)
      Archer (2)

Colonia Locuta (Turns before growth: 6) (Garrison: 2 Hoplites and 2 Archers)
      Archer (2) (638 Gold)
      Hoplite (3)
      Archer (3)
      Hoplite (3)

H Town (Turns before growth: 3) (Garrison: 5 Hoplites and 4 Archers)
      Hoplite (2) (663 Gold)
      Archer (2)
      Hoplite (3)
      Archer (2)

Mapfipolis (Turns before growth: 23) - 1 Farmer (Garrison: 2 Hoplites and 2 Archers)
      Hoplite (3) (4) (1400 Gold)
      Archer (3)
      Hoplite (3) (4)
      Archer (3)

Adding one farmer would reduce the number of Turns Before Growth to 14.

Pressburg (Turns before growth: 6) (Garrison: 1 Hoplite and 2 Archers)
      Hoplite (2) (513)
      Archer (3)
      Hoplite (4)
      Archer (3)

Graz (Turns before growth: 12) (Garrison: 4 Hoplites, 4 Archers and 1 Warrior)
      Hoplite (1)
      Archer (2)
      Hoplite (2)
      Archer (2)

Wels (Turns before Growth: 17) - 1 Farmer (Garrison: 3 Hoplites and 1 Archer)
      Archer (2) (507 Gold)
      Hoplite (4)
      Archer (4)
      Hoplite (4)

Linz (Turns before Growth: 21) - 1 Farmer (Garrison: 5 Hoplites and 4 Archers)
      Archer (1)
      Hoplite (3)
      Archer (3)
      Hoplite (3)

We should consider building a Shrine in the cities of H Town, Graz and Linz (Happiness: 74) as this would allow us to free more units to attack Austria and/or anticipate Monarchy where the Martial Law is limited to 3 units.

        Tamerlin,

in which cities are we already using entertainers?
I think it might be cheaper to use first 1 entertainer and if this isn't sufficent anymore to build Shrine. Aren't we able to build theatres? They would decrease unhapiness better.

Thanks to the Martial Law in effect in all our cities we are not currently using any entertainer (there would have been indicated in my summary like the Farmers). I agree the use of Entertainers can quickly solve a problem in a given city though to the detriment of production and growth... and we need both.

I agree Theatres are more efficient but the number of turns required to produce them is twice the number of turns required for Shrines. IMO, the shrines are the cheaper way of anticipating the Monarchy and the reduced effect of the Martial Law under this government.

Can't recall, but entertainers do create 2 points of hapiness, correct? Same goes for the theatre. Shrine only gives 1 point. So it would be 'cheaper' (long term) to build directly the theatre.
I might be wrong, but if I remember right theatres are slighty 'cheaper' than shrines (hapiness/construction cost).

So might be still better to build theatres.

I agree with you Gilgamensh, Shrines cost 270 while Theatres cost 495. The seconds are thus more efficient and it might be a choice we would have to make in the course of a Turn Chat at a moment or another. I still think we should build Shrines as we will have to produce them in the future and because the reduced number of turns to produce them will allow us to build more military units.

We don't have many unhappiness problems at the moment, so why waste resources on countering them?

For now focus on what's actually useful: military units (which can be used to counter unhappiness as well) and caravans. We can deal with unhappiness when it actually starts to become an issue.

Now or near future, I don't expect we'll be dealing with unhappiness anytime soon (especially not if we're gonna build a road network)...

                      As Tamerlin mentioned:
With monarchy we only have a ML-bonus of 3, not longer 4, so we will run (sooner or later) into trouble. And it might help some others to get a better idea before

And building those enhancements can free up military units as well. (though military units are cheaper right now )

                        just to clear up things:
theatres give +2 happiness and enhance entertainers.
entertainers give +1 happiness, +2 if the city has a theatre (sounds logic, giving them a stage will enable more people to see them, as in the street in front of the crowded supermarket )

differs from mod to mod, but iirc thats the way in vanilla ctp2 as well as in gmapolpack

                          Thanks Zaphod.

I wasn't sure about it anymore.

                          Just to clarify:

in the moment without theatre we get for each entertainer: +1 happinness?

I don't agree completely with you, the happiness rating of H Town, Graz and Linz will immediately fall at 73 (if not less if their population has increased) as soon as the Martial Law is limited to 3 units under Monarchy. The unhappiness in these cities will become increasingly difficult to counter without using Entertainers which, IMO, are a greater waste of resources.

This is exactly what I am doing, I am just attracting attention on the happiness issue that would have to be dealt with in the future though not immediately.
