No, by GMT I mean GMT, so I meant 19:30 BST which should be fine . I guess I'll be lazy and usurp the thread I created before.

            • Hey guys, sorry for not being around - just had a two weeks service in the army but it's over now.
The last elections were delayed a few days - if noone objects I'll take their starting date -7 days to start nominations, which will be on May 17th

              • IMO the nominations and the elections should be delayed for 15 days as Settler's failure and no Chat Room for another week have stalled the game for two weeks.

18:30 GMT is 19:30 British Time and is 20:30 in France...

The problem is we depend on Locutus' computer to hold the chat and I think he can't make it earlier...

                    • The idea of daylight saving was first conceived by Benjamin Franklin (portrait at right) during his sojourn as an American delegate in Paris in 1784, in an essay, "An Economical Project." Read more about Franklin's essay.
Some of Franklin's friends, inventors of the oil lamp, were so taken by the scheme that they continued corresponding with Franklin even after he returned to America.
The idea was first advocated seriously by a London builder, William Willett (1857-1915), in the pamphlet "Waste of Daylight" (1907) that proposed advancing clocks 20 minutes on each of four Sundays in April, and retarding them by the same amount on four Sundays in September. As he was taking an early morning a ride through Petts Wood, near Croydon, Willett was struck by the fact that the blinds of nearby houses were closed, even though the sun was fully risen. When questioned as to why he didn't simply get up an hour earlier, Willett replied with typical British humor, "What?" In his pamphlet "The Waste of Daylight" he wrote:
"Everyone appreciates the long, light evenings. Everyone laments their shortage as Autumn approaches; and everyone has given utterance to regret that the clear, bright light of an early morning during Spring and Summer months is so seldom seen or used".
The main purpose of Daylight Saving Time (called "Summer Time" many places in the world) is to make better use of daylight. The idea was first mentioned in a whimsical essay by Benjamin Franklin in 1784.

Like I said in the last chat, I will be working all night and unable to attend but I'll leave my PC on.

                        • Good job Frozzy

But still, don't like it at all........

Once you start working (if you don't already), you will find out, that you leave in the pitch dark and return in the pitch dark (in winter). So it doesn't make any difference........

For the farmers, it is causing them more problems than it helps them. (A farmer actually told me) He told me that for example the milk-machine is turned on every day at the same time. But when you change the clock, it isn't the same time any more and therefore the cows 'bio-rythm' is getting disturbed and they actually produce less milk. For the normal farm-work, the daylight saving doesn't change anything, as they have to get up before dawn (?).

So except for some kids, it doesn't really help at all

                          AT least my opinion.

IIRC I read that the change cost the government couple of millions each time they change.........Would like that they would waste this money on me

Locutus, does it mean, we could connect any time?

                              • Daylight saving throughout the year - that's what I want! Who cares when the sun's up - the later it goes down the better.

Everyone, please vote on the two amendments I put up, so we get at least a representative outcome, not like last time when settler was down.
