  • How long should a term be?

See title of thread: how long should goverment officials (particularly President and Minsters) serve in office before election have to take place again (not counting impeachments)?

Should it be a fixed time, a fixed number of turn, a fixed number of playing sessions (where the number of turns per session is yet to be determined but most likely is variable: it depends on the situation in the game and the orders that are available), or something else altogether?

If you vote for a different or a combination system, please post details (e.g. which systems would you combine?)

      1 month...meh, 4 weeks will do then..
<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners. If you devirginised them yourself, though, that's another story. If they devirginised each other, then, I hope you had that webcam running.

I know, but if we don't decide now, we'll still be bickering about this in 3 weeks. That might keep up our reputation, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing

Edit: yeah, Lemmy, that's what I meant with 4 weeks...

I guess you are right. Therefore:
I voted "A combination of 2 or all of the above systems, whichever comes first"
"Kill a man and you are a murder.
Kill thousands and you are a conquer.
Kill all and you are a God!"

              Pedrunn,
Could you post which systems would you combine? (I should have added that in the original question)

fixed time and fixed number of turns (BTW: turns is wrongly written terms in one of the 'other' options).

Fixed sections is too subjective. Depends on that current moment, the hour, the number of people, ...

EDIT: So far i would go 4 weeks and 25 turns, yet TBD

I go for a time limit - that way we can arrange elections etc. with the knowledge of how long there will be.

i really hope you mean weeks and not months.

I like four week terms (every month) because that way it fits in well with a judical election. It seems we want to elect the judges first, and then the president and ministers. If we keep the judges election before everyone else, we will always have a panel of judges to rule on the elections.

A horror story wold be if a case began during the election, and the judges began to work on the case, but then the senior judge's term expires and a new judge comes in.

I think a long period is good, especially if you consider how long the elections does take, but it shouldn't be too long therefore I voted for 6 weeks.

The problem with a fixed number of turns is that you have at the beginnig actual nothing to do, so the first 100 turn are very fast and we could end with two terms in the first two weeks. If we decide to make it turn dependent then we have the problem if our orders last for more then the specified number of turn.
