Too many and too small islands are bad for the AI and bad for an interesting game therefore more islands should be there but not to much also the marine aspect of the game should be existent. Therefor I prefer a medium setting but sligtly in advance of the island setting therefore my vote is 4.

Depends on the amount of land mass. If there is < 50% land, then we should have more islandy. If there is > 50% land, it should be continentally.

No man is an island. And lemurs can’t swim. 10!

This poll has a curious dichotomy. How will the choice be made? as the mean, median or mode of the votes (orsome other method)?..

As it looks now mean would be the second best method, of course the best method would be now just take the option with the most votes.

well, i would say it the other way round, i like fair too big continents, but a couple of them. so there can be clearly distinct regions/zones of strategic interest or whatever, at least until the arrival of icbms.

p.s. didn't vote so far and probably won't do, until the modquestion is decided

Well, these polls are rather unusual as someone who voted 3 probably wouldn't object to 2 or 4 either. So I think the most democratic thing to do would be to have a second round with the values that have a lot of votes 'around' them. With the current standing in this poll, that would mean to make a second poll where people can choose for 4, 8 or 10. When (in this or one of the other Map Setting polls) one of the options gets a large portion of the votes but not an absolute majority, we should probably have a 'conformation' poll in which we ask "Do you object against a Land Mass of 7?" (or whatever). When one of the options has an absolute majority (not counting abstain votes), no need for further polling is needed, obviously. But that's just my €0.02, maybe others have better ideas...

Who votes in 8 or 10 doesnt feel bad to have a 9. You said yourself.
So why makes things complicated. I am in favour of a median.

                              Should we vote???
