  • TileEdit and Tile Improvements.

    This has probably already been covered elesewhere but I am a late starter in the MOD department.

    I want to create some new tile improvements. The easiest way to do this is to take some existing ones and change them. Fine. I have no problem with the majority of this. However when I try to use TileEDit to change the tile improvement image things go wrong.

    Here's what I am doing :
    * Open the tile file
    * Tick the 'show tile improvements' checkbox
    * Find the tile improvement
    * Select Edit - Edit - Improvement
    * Load .tga file and save.

    Thing is, the new improvement image does not line up with the tile but instead sits to one side. What is the easiest way to fix this?

    I used Photoshop to create an image (40x30 pixels) and used magenta RGB(255,0,255) for the background of one and grey RGB(198,198,198) as the background of the other. These are the colours of the other CTP images. Is that OK?

    What I did was to sit the tile improvement image in the correct place in the standard 94*72 image and import that.

    If you keep a blank (198 grey) 94*72 image handy, with the tile diamond drawn on in black, then you can paste the image over the top, and then recolour the black diamond to the background colour, resave as the image you want, and import that. Then open the next 40*30 TI image, and reopen the blank diamond, and repeat.
    Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?

      Make a 94 x 72 pixels tga (16-bit ) picture. This is about the size of the tile. And using Photoshop you find the correct place for the tile improvement in the picture.

      A nice help is to use the blank PSD file i attached here to set the TI in the correct place since the black square is the the place of the terrain in the tiledit and the silver color is the background. Once you place the TI in the correct spot just make the layer of the black square invisible and save the file as a TGA.
