  • Leonidas,
Yup, most people don't, that's the typical self-centrism of our Western culture And that while it's only one of dozens of similar temple cities all over (southern) India, the one even more magnificent than the other...

    Ben,
Statue of Zeus, temple of Zeus, that's the same thing really... The statue in the open air wouldn't really make much sense, even though it would look better.

A photograph of the Mausoleum? How about this?

Thanks a ton for (planning to) add Meenakshi...

    • no problem. It'll lose a lot of detail, but the size and shape should convey the sense of it.
nice photo, but perhaps it would look better as it was.

      City Expansion screenie:
Pedrunn, I still think the villages need some houses taken out, so that the scale fits better with the cities, but otherwise, the style fits fine.

      • Nice work, Ben. But the graphics would look better if they would throw shaddows on the map.

        • City expansion looking great too

I like the first 2, but the modern ones are IMHO a little too... dominant. Do you suppose the big building in the north of each tile could be replaced by something smaller (if others agree)?

I think for pre-Renaissance (MedMod) or pre-Middle Ages (Cradle) Pedrunn's sprite would be nice, for Middle/Renaissance/Industrial Ages BlueO's and for Modern/Information Age the modern ones. For future ages Pedrunn's Genetic age cities would probably look best.

          • okey dokey, shadows and smaller modern age ones. Pedrunns geneticky cities.
Oh, I knew there was something else. I have no "razed" graphic for the small modern cityEx, hence using BlueOs larger ones.

My cities arent looking as good in the in-game as i expect .

I left a blank space so that the player could know wich tile was underneath. But it did not looked a good feature after all. I can fill that clean space. Thats not a problem.

And I got the feeling that they are too small? I dont know if that is because they are besides blueO's ones that are bigger.
Yet they are ok if compared with the small houses in the city sprite.
              What you guys think?

PS: I also loved the wonder Hagia Sophia you are using in your Avatar. I even think it is one of the best graphic of the pack.

                • Pedrunn,
I agree with IW, i think you should have LESS buildings in the tile not more. I really like the look of this expansion, but a less packed tile kinda balances better, like what Locutus was saying about the modern city(BlueO's)tiles. It's just got to represent an expanding city. Has it been decided if the Wonders or the City Expansion will take precedent if there is a clash?

Oh yeah most excellent IW, about St.Pauls grass - i like the grass and trees on all of the other Wonders just fine, it was just the full tile of grass next to the terrain(very squareish!) that looked a little odd, but if it does terrain recognition then that's great. Yes i love the trees and shrubs(bwing me a swubery!)too

                  Big MC,
Just saw it as i posted - sweet

Yeah less buildings and of course every tile imp graphics needs it own shaddow even if it is only a small one. That makes the graphics better.

I am almost thinking that the best would be forget my ancient city imp and use BlueO's ones. I am kind of disapointed with them. Uless anyone is against this decision. Still i want to compare the genetic cities.

I dont how nobody ever thought of that:

No! They look great! You just need to remove a few of the buildings in the busiest one, as others pointed out. Other than that they look great...

PLEASE keep them!!!!! I LOVE them, they are very, very nice and i promise to push for more sci-fi CTP2 things if you keep them!(as Locutus says, maybe just thin it out a little..... )

                              • Sorry for not posting for a while, I've had exams and such lately.
Anyway, I've got started on the code and oh my goodness is it some code... I reckon the city expansion code will be upwards of 1000 lines and the wonder code about 300 unless any major bugs rear their heads.
I can sympathise with BlueO's messy code, its a hell of a job scanning a city coverage with the limited SLIC functions.

Anyway, although nothing actually works yet ( ), I've got an 'algorithm' to scan the city radius (a search pattern at least), and its all downhill from here.
If anyone wants to get busy, I can tell you that the wonders should (will have to) come before the city expansions in tileimp.txt.

                                Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?
