PSP 3.3 so far as I remember that is the version for Windows 3.1. I think it does not contain Aplha Channel support.

Try the website of the makers of the program.

          Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?

I bought PSP4 it. I just had to spend 50 D-Mark for it. Should be something like approx. 25 €uro. In comparision 200 or 250 D-Mark for PSP7. So it was really cheap (I own a full version of a good paint program). So what I have is a full version of PSP4 in German language. And a demo of PSP5 and a demo of PSP6 on CDs. Maybe the demo of PSP5 will be enough, but the file is bigger. PSP4 in German, I don't know if you speak any German, so it could be hard to use this version. As I have high speed internet access it wouldn't be a problem for me to the PSP5 demo. The installation file has a size of 6855kb and it is very good compressed. So if you want to have it just e-mail me. I can't send attachment via the forum e-mail screen, it doesn't give me your address, so your email must tell it me. Maybe I can find a better sollution, instwead of sending you the file.

Can you get the sprite maker to work on 5 tell me how and I will see if I can download it. it may be easier then 4. By the way I speak very little German which in my book is dancker (if I have spelt it right) And one to call myself an idiot.

I think that you won't find it in the net, as the only source were you get PSP is Jask, and they only offer the newest version or the obsolete 16bit version.

But to upload a demo to some place should be no violation of any rights as it is free and the intension is that people should test the program before buying it.

Maybe a secret link would be enough finally.
But unfortunatly I am not familiar with PSP5 and it is not installed on my current computer.

Euhm, you guys need my help for anything? Need to upload files? I'm not sure what you're saying here Anyway, if you need space, you can get it at http://ctpmodmakers.0catch.com/ (FTP: www.0catch.com, username: ctpmodmakers.0catch.com, password bl00drun). There should still be plenty of room for PSP...

nope, I only have psp7 myself and it works perfectly, I use it for all my graphics work (not that I have a lot of that, but still...). Quite frankly I don't see what the problem here is but I guess that's just me.

you got psp 7 to make a sprite

                        how

i make the alpha channel using any non zero value save to the alpha channel

it gets rid of all the black I then save it as a tiff and then it hits me you can only save as a signal layer and then I click yes go to the sprite maker do that stuff and it hits me with no alpha channel

Dunno, it was quite a while ago. I just folllowed the instructions from Harlan's guide... maybe made a few tweaks here or there to get around version differences but it wasn't too hard, I remember that... The hard part for me was to actually make the sprite and that's why I gave up pretty soon But getting PSP to work was easy enough, I'll see if I can reproduce the method (I think I once elaborately described the procedure of converting AoE units in the CtP1 forums somewhere, maybe that contains some useful hints too).

Okay, I found the old AoE thread, it's here.

Here's the part of the text that I *think* might be relevant:
Then make an alpha channel (Masks -> New -> From Image... - if you're told you already have a mask and asked if you want to replace it, press Yes - in the window that pops up 'Source window' should be 'This Window' and 'Create Mask From' should be 'Any non-zero value', now press OK, then Masks -> Save To Alpha Channel... and if the Preview shows the picture in black and the background in white then press OK twice).
Finally merge all layers together (Layers -> Merge All (Flatten)) and save in tif-format (names should be GUxxMA1.0.tif to GUxxMA5.0.tif where xx is any number between 00 and 99 (e.g. 01 or 35) and 1.0 to 5.0 stand for facings 1 to 5).

well that’s not what I get

when I save the do the alpha channel the pic stays at it is but the back ground just disappears with the usual psp background when you just start a new pic.

                                so what’s up there then
