I have no idea why but again I can't download an intact atttachment. Maybe you should rezip it and put it on Locutus' new database.

Same problem here, I tried to download both files twice. Has anyone warned Markos about this latest problem yet?

Select the area you want as the alpha, then go to selections -> save to alpha channel -> enter a name. There should only be one alpha when you finish. If there one before you save, overwrite it.

Then save the pic. If it wants to merge the image to one layer, cancel the save, and change the tiff settings until it will let you save the alpha as a separate channel.

Finally I got it right with Get Right. So I converted the picture into the right format with shaddow files ready to convert them into a sprite. But I saw that the screencaptures that made Harlan of the sea cities are not so good therefore I made my own ones and I converted them into tiffs with everything like alpha channel including shaddow files. By the tried you to save the tiffs compreesed or uncompreesed. They should be saved uncompressed, 24bit and in 16 Million color mode. (Much better than Civ3 graphics files).

You will laugh I use Paint Shop Pro 4. Personally I prever the version 4. I tested a demo of 5, but the changed the outlay of that program and I can't find everything there that I can find in PSP4. I now that they changed the hotkeys, too. At least it is the use of all the PSP tools like magic wand, selection invertion. Filling with color, using the tollereance parameter for all the single tools, etc...

Maybe when I am at home I can explain the details.

Mmm the newest demo that I have is PSP6. I am proud to say that I am already on day 201 of my 30 day evalation period :

It took me a little bit to figure it out how to add the alpha mask:

                          1) Go to Menue: Masks>New>From Image.. and use from any non zero pixel and create the mask (that was it in PSP4)

                          2) but in PSP6 you have then to go to Maks>Save To Alpha Channel.. and convert the mask into an alpha channel.

                          3) Than you have to go to Layers>Properties.. and disable there and disable the mask for this layer.

                          4) Now you can merge all layers or just save it without merging the layers you will only get a message about that you selected the wrong file format to save every layer properly, if you save the file as a tiff in the right uncompressed 16 Million 24 bit color mode, the layers will be automatically merged.

How complicated so I will stay at PSP4, but note I have not PSP7, therefore I have no idea if there is a better way to do it in PSP7, and even I don't know if there is a better way to do it PSP6, learning shortcut will help you.

well that's it I am rely upset now

                            I got paint shop 7

which is a real pain in the but

I can't remember the layer bit being on the help file so I will have a go again tonight.

hopefully I will get it working if not I will download psp4 which should be a bit easy to work with.
