Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
Anyone knows a mod to play CTP2 with space like in CTP1. Or anyone knows how to change the CTP1 files to add then in CTP2 So that i can play.
Please, i really need to play CTP2 with space. Please!!!!!!
I play CTP2 Now! And my Login is Pedrunn (with 2 n's).
If it is possible it will need a lot of changes. I don't know how much of the code is left in the game. At first you have to add a short key for switching between earth and space to the userkeymap.txt. The key is still in the game:
TOGGLE_SPACE
You have to add the space terrain to the terrain.txt. But I don't know how to activate the toggle space key.
Then you have to make space units or modify existing units that they can be moved in space. Adding space cities et cetera...
That would be a long mod if it is posible, try the space/land hotkey maybe it activates the space terrain taht would be the first step to reimplement space in CTP2 than the other stuff.
No, it's not possible to get the space layer back; they didn't remove it because they thought it wasn't fun enough or anything, they removed it because it was causing all sorts of problems (not just in the layer itself but in other parts of the game too). The only way to resolve those problems with the time and budget available was to remove the code for the space layer altogether. There may be some textfield references left (in the exe or the textfiles) but the code in the game engine itself is simply gone. Adding it again would be like adding a space layer to Civ2: unless you have the source code, completely rewrite the game or are an extremely good assembly hacker with an empty agenda for the next 4 years, you'll never get it to work.
In itself a pity as it added a lot of realism to the game, but all things considered not too bad a development: the way it was implemented it was hardly useful (other than for transport) and only unbalanced things: first guy to space was guaranteed to win in Ctp1.
I never needed to use the space layer to win CTP. Shame it can't have been reintroduced to CTP2

No, I never needed it to win either, I usually rapped things up much earlier, but those times that I got there it was obvious that being able to get to any spot on the planet in a single turn is a real killer. Landing a dozen Eco-terrorists or a few stacks of Fusion Tanks in the core of an opponents empire and destroying all his mayor cities kind of reduces his potential to fight back...
Yeah, a fleet of eco-rangers is rather effective as well
