  • Where are the Patrol Boats?

Where is the file where I can edit the patrol boats? I looked in 'ctp2_data\default\gamedata\units' but didn't find it.

What do you want to edit? the characteristics are found in ctp2_data/default/gamedata/units.txt. The sound files and tgas are found in uniticon.txt. Other than that, there is the info about the units in the english/great_library.txt. Hopefully that helps.

        Hey Alpha,
What happens if you change the UNIT_Frigate to UNIT_PTBoat in all the right files, think it will cause problems.
I want to use sailing frigates and Ships of line

Just shows how one thing can mean different things to people. When I first saw frigate, I envisioned a modern missile frigate since there's a gap there in naval units.

I would think that you could copy frigate into a new ptboat unit, then change the icons/sprite used by the frigate to match your sailing ship. You have to modify the uniticon file to point each unit to the files, and then rearrange unitbuildlists if you want the AI to build them. Change gl_str to add ptboat and change frigate to frigate.

i think thats all you have to do.

Alternatively, you could add the sailing ship frigate as UNIT_OLDFRIGATE or something like that, and just call it "frigate" in gl_str.txt. This would save you altering two different unit files
