I tried that but could not figure out how to change the number 13 in the box on number of players. I assume once I do that I go around and delete the settlers for players #8 and up.

I hope to repost this map with 30 civs for this weekend in a scenario format if people are willing test it out for me that would be great... remember the biggest thing according to other posts is to turn the extras off so it doesn't slow down... too much

I begin playing with 8 coutries- all with plenty of room to operate. I had to redo Australia to give it more green tiles. I am now around 1600 AD and the computer is cranking things out.

30 civ's I think will be way too big for most computers to handle. Now if you need an excuse to buy a new Pentium 4 1.25 gyg!!!

Well I was doing some testing between working on the map and university... I'm only running a PII 333 with 256ram and well after turning off all the extras at 1200AD there was no real slowdown, maybe only an extra 2-5 seconds.... which might lead to a 60sec delay in the 19th century and maybe a 1.5 minute in the mid 2000's... it's just turning off the extras... it makes most things okay to run... now the new map... I probably won't try to run it with 30.. 210x300 is much much larger...

Maybe I did not have every thing turned off- who knows???
Maybe it would be easier instead of telling what to turn off, to tell what needs to be left running!
              30 civ's does sound interesting.

OmniGod- I am been playing your map with 8 civ's for sometime now- around 1990- I noticed when i got the wonder that gives a permanent embassy that all 14 civ's showed up on the dip. page.
It takes around 5 minutes for each turn.

How did you edit the civs to 8? Since I believe that it was released with 14, if all you did was kill some settlers, then there are still 14 players, but you killed 6 right away... to correct the problem you have to change the map settings to 8 civs... Is 5 minutes too long?

I did not know how to change the map settings. maybe you could run me through that.
Yes, 5 minuts is to long- I have no patience.

I'm going to release the world map again with 8 civ start locals with all civs included but also leave the 14 player for people who (god knows why) love to sit there for 5 minutes

Should be 30 to 45 seconds. Anything over a minute is too long, 5 minutes is totally unplayable.

8 Civs are fine. More than 8 is what doesn't work. Don't look for a patch to correct this since more than 8 Civs are not supported.

It doesn't change anything but I can't believe this was intentional. Why would anybody in their right mind make a program blow up instead of putting out an error message. If would be nice if they could at least put out a patch to keep the program from abending in such a nasty way.
