  • Hope we will be moving. Arthur, you're a good man, but because of the problems you get in receiving your turn, playing with you is long. No offence meant, of course, but I would like you to check the forums every day and see whether someone sent the turn to you.
    And, I see this thread has now 4 pages. My suggestion is we move it to a new thread after several more posts, gets long to post here.

    • Great attitude Arthur. With all the times I defended you on this forum, and now you're telling me to "stick it". That's great. You are definitely out "How About Some" and "R2_Islands" too. I know that is no big deal to you. You could have shown a little courtesy and posted, like everyone else does, that you didn't receive your turn. Instead of ignoring post after post after post. And you can "stick it" too!

      • Will we turn him to AI or someone else? I think a human would be better.
        Arthur, sorry, but this can't go on like this, especially with us rating the games now.

        • AI or not?

          Another q could be: Stop this game or not? I mean, we have not even taken 9 turns yet = no ranking from this game yet. And besides - we had started this game with only one settler. It will take long time before, this will be a real interesting game

          Not that I'm going "slaving" players from a game to another (ohhh, yes I am ) but if - IF - St Jon would take a look at the WAR game tread, sooooo.... , so we would be enough (7 or 8) to start that game this afternoon or latest tomorrow morning .

          • I'm with Birdman on this one. How about my prior suggestion to consolidate "R2_Islands" and "How About Some" into one game and start over.

            That is, Solver, St Jon, TheBirdMan, Kralj, Aaginor, King Thor, and Quinns. Fast start with 18 settlers and 18 warriors and 10 thousand gold (situated on 4 adjoining tiles) random large map, 30% land, 80% islands, all else at 50% and default, no additional advances.

            Let me know what you all think .

            • Ok with me - but this should then be a replace of both this game and "War game" which has not been launced yet.

              • Guy's, I have no problem with either proposed solution but I did take a look at the 'War Game' Thread when it was first put up and decided that it was not my style of Game.

                I would suggest that if you are looking at an Acc-Start Game that you consider DC or Semi-Acc as they already exist, are tried and tested and do give a real jump into the Game. If you are prepared to give it a try I cannot recommend Slamp's APQS Scenario too highly. It gives a realistic Renaissance Start Point with staggered acceleration which compensates for the problems with City Size at high difficulty ratings. You do have to have, everybody in the game, the Apolyton Pack with CD's Mod installed but this does not affect your normal Games as it runs as a Scenario.

                It makes for a very tough Game at Deity but that's the main reason that we play PBEM anyway, the AI is Trash in conventional CtP!

                  • Not really I think your pretty damn thoughtless for inviting me to join a game then canceling the game without telling me and insinuating that I'm an unreliable player before a turn has even been played.

                    • Yikes! What did I start? More animosity? Let me try to iron this out.

                      Let's leave "R2_Islands" alone. We've got that game back on track now (I think) and the majority of the players seem to want to leave it as is.

                      Regarding "War Game" and "How about some", I vote to:

                      1) Dump (cancel) "How about some" (Solver, TheBirdMan, St Jon, Quinns);

                      2) Use St. Jon's recommendations for the "best" accelerated start tested (which one was that again?);

                      3) Keep the original 7 players in "War Game" (TheBirdMan, Solver, Arthur, Kralj Matjaz, Fraze, Krash, and Quinns) and add St. Jon to this game making it an even 8 players.

                      (I posted this same message on "War Game")

                        • I'm happy too.

                          One or two games more - that's ok.

                          I can easily install Apolytons on this pc. Ok also.

                          But some other has to be playmaker with Slamp's Scenario as I have not tried to set this up (yet).

                          And for the Wargame - I'll do it anyway It it survives that's fine, if it dies (lack of interest) - well, what-will-be-will-be.

                          Peace.

                          • If needs be I will set up the Game using Slamp's Scenario, it really is a fantastic piece of work and it is a shame that only the one game seems to have been played under it. I would suggest that anyone wishing to play not make the same mistake I did and go into it without having at least tried the CD Mod Single Player as it sure as hell knocks the 'Theocracy with Tanks' strategy right on the head!

                            I have said already that I do not want to play in the 'War Game'. If really needed I will play but only as a last resort. I've played in 'Fixed Team Games' in SMAC and they are not my style.

                            • Jon, War Game is not "fixed teams" anymore. I think we should just use the "players" from War Game and include yourself in the Slamp start game, provided everyone is capable of downloading the Mods you mentioned. (Apolyton Pack and Med Mod 4? Was that it?)

                              Birdman, I would rather just play "one" game if we can get Jon in this one, we are set to go with eight, without any more confusion. But it sounds like you have your heart set on the "War Game" map that you set up.

                              Let me know how you both feel. Sounds enjoyable.

                              • Slamps is ok for me.

                                And I don't think Wes' medmod 4 are nessesary - only Apolytons - its very easy to install too (just remember to change "debugslic" to "yes".

                                My only "issue" is, I don't like these slow start (next, next, next the first 20-40 turns ). Some action from the start, that's what I want .

                                St Jon, pleace set Slamps up. I'll be romans (Maximus) or mexcicans (Maximillan) - choose yourself.
