  • Lung's FAST! pbem Turn posts

Greeting, and welcome to the fastest damn pbem game at Apolyton!!

After much playtesting, i tweaked the settings to make the world fractionally warmer, more island oriented, with fractionally less trade goods. The game is King level, with restless tribes, doughnut world, normal map.

However, i was unable to get all civs with rivers every time, even though there were normally rivers nearby. Hey, once even I didn't get a river!! I must say i was very thankful that i was still playtesting

Okay, the turns are as follows;-

Don Bradman the Great_ Australians_ lungthetrue@bigpond.com
    Ludwig________________ Germans_____ steve.auch@myokay.net
    Paul__________________ Dutch_______paulvdb@home.nl
    Jon___________________ Indians_____ jonfurder@freeuk.com
    Shavlor_______________ Romans______ shavlor@zxmail.com

Unfortunately, we have had a hiccup with starting the game, as Stavros had errors. I have sent you all the two settlers scenario, which i hope will solve the problem.

    Happy civilisationing!!

I just mailed you all, but I'll also post it here: the two settler scenario also contains some Dutcheese stuff which is causing Stavros' errors. I mailed a fixed script.slc and Lung will need to restart the game with that fixed script.slc.

So much for the fastest game eh Lung?
you shouldn't have any problems with the mod/scenario.
I am running CTP: English w/ patch 1.2 and the hack and have no problems.
oh well I just hope this fix doesn't mess up my computer .

I have played and posted my Turn onto Shavlor but I experienced the same problem as Steve described. I was able to build a City, talk about a blind start, and move my other Settler but I've no idea as to where. I just hope that it settles down on subsequent Turns.

Oh right, that's one thing I should have mentioned. When I loaded the game I also got the error message that it couldn't find ADVANCE_CULTURAL1_ARTICLE_ACC. I fixed that by adding to that dutcheese.txt the following line:

                ADVANCE_CULTURAL1_ARTICLE_ACC "x"

Instead of x you could also put anything else between the quotation marks, just as long as CTP can find the string in the database.

This Fast PBEM isn't ticking along quite as quickly as I hoped it might.... Is there still a problem?

It is because my pop account is down temp.

Thank you, Shavlor. I will play my turn in about 10 hours when i get home.

You guys are probably wondering why this fast game is going so slow . Well, i'm being lenient for the first couple of weeks to let everyone get into the game (including myself). In the crucial first couple of turns, i don't want to get the reserve to play for people when they have settlers preparing to settle what will become the centrepeices of their civilisations.

I'm going away for 3 days this weekend, but i'll get Don to play my turns for me. After i get back, though, i intend to firmly enforce the 24 hour rule. Then the game will start to take off. I'm sure Don will look after everyone's turns with aplomb

For the more punctual of you - thank you for your patience.

If we keep this amazing speed up we just might have reached the Renaissance before we start collecting our pensions!
