Turn 159 ==> Sophix
I see that your intelligence services are as dilligent as my own.
Steve Waugh, although we see no need for an eco alliance at this stage, we have none the less agreed so as not to offend you. We do however, request that you depart from Sovereign Welsh territory. Unfortunately our Ambassador may well have put it in less savoury words.

What, you mean my honourable warrior standing guard in the Great Waugh mountains?? He held his ground while watching Welsh settlers settle in the foothills, without so much as asking whether anyone already owned it. He sees no need to depart his post, and i see no need to order him otherwise.
As for the Eco Pact, this is for the disturbing pollution emanating from the Egytian cities to our environment's detriment.
Maybe you should lay off the beer a bit, Demos

Forgive me, perhaps the beer is taking it's toll. We has all but assumed that the warrior in the mountains was a statue left by a long forgotten civilisation, it has been motionless for so long.
We were referring, as stated, to the Ship of the Line, disturbing the tranquil life of Welsh fishermen of the coast of Brecon.

Oh, THAT unit! Maybe i should be the one laying off the beer . Sorry, some of my admirals just like going for a bit of a sail occasionally. Did he stop on some of your fishing nets or something? He has been told to stop disturbing the natives in your neck of the woods
BTW - where's the turn?

I guess Shavlor's five turns is up, or at least he considers it close enough to be.
Do we find a replacement, or just set him to AI? Personally, i don't think it's worth anyone's time to take over his civ, which doesn't have a hope in hell. Anyone good enough to make a comeback would almost certainly be in too many pbem games to take on another one. I vote that we just set him to AI and have some rules regarding terms of engagement. We should just consider Shavlor declared beaten and effectively dead. I propose that war cannot be declared on his civ unless his civ commits an act of war first. This should not include stealth units, but this is negotiable. In the event of war, peace must be taken when offered by the AI.
Otherwise, we could just make it a free-for-all on his civ, but that would decidedly advantage Demos. What do you guys think?? I'm sick of waiting on this game, but with three players left, we should be able to pick up the pace from here.
So here's the status now -
Demosthenes alive
Sophix alive
Shavlor dead - 4th
Lung alive
Burchill dead - 5th
Personally, i don't think Shavlor can complain too much as i started after him and therefore could be fairly considered to have had a poorer starting location

Lung I am not even going to get involved in an argument about my starting land.

Restrictions? There should be no legitimate way of conquering the Romans. Attacking Roman units should only be allowed in self-defence. I propose the rules for terms of engagement with the Romans as follows;-
Unit type.......Action..........Reaction
---------.......------..........--------
Stealth.........trespass........expulsion
................attack..........attack unit only
Military........trespass........attack only after stop trespass demand refused/ignored
................pirate/pillage..attack unit only
................attack..........capture city
In each case above, the reaction is the maximum allowed. The 'capture city' option can only be performed once, in order to induce a peace offering. If peace not requested by the Romans, it must be offered. In the event of peace being refused after the capture of a city, only trespassing units can be attacked. In the event of long-term repeated recalcitrant action by the Romans, blessing should be sought by the international community for increased action e.g. capturing another city. Stealth unit attacks should NOT be allowed, except spying in the event of war. Any stealth unit of yours attacked by the Romans within Roman territory cannot be avenged, regardless of whether your stealth unit made an attack or not. Existing conversions and slavings can remain, but if the Romans negate that effect, it cannot be re-engaged.
So there you have it. I am open to ideas, but i think the above is fair and just, just like me
Unless someone replies otherwise, i will assume that everyone accepts the rules as i stated above.

I don't mind taking on the Romans if you guys want a human element...
Besides, I've had practice marshalling Roman forces - though I rather believe that I would be in a far worse position in this particular incarnation...
