  • Foreign Trade

Since a while I've been playing CTP against my brother through out home network, and it's a lot of fun. Nothing professional, just a laid-back piece of gaming in the late hours. However, it happens to be so that we can't figure out how to trade between one another. I basically know all the trading procedures - build caravan/labyrinth, try and create monopolies, and so on. But no matter if we (both/one of us) have caravans or not, when we sell something on the open market, it doesn't show up in the other's 'buy' screen. Sometimes it does advise you to trade this good from that (foreign) city, but it still doesn't show up. Not when we wait a couple of turns, just kind of never.

So, what's the deal? Are we doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance. And, of course, sorry for being dumb (probably the cause )

The procedure you describe seems to be the correct one. Perhaps you should post the exact procedure you follow step by step so I or someone else can figure out what the problem is.

Well, let's see. Once we both have a free caravan (but we did try without those, as well), one of us opens the trade window, clicks 'sell', sells, let's say, crab from London for 20 gold. Then, the next turn, the other opens the trade window, clicks 'buy', and sees nothing. However, he is advised to 'buy crab and transport it to Kyoto', which is, of course, the crab the other player sold. Yet it doesn't show up.

There is currently no road connecting us in this game, but we tried before and it didn't help. Besides, it isn't required for trade within your own civilization either.

Is this a bug? The game does seem to notice when something is sold...

NB, I have an embassy in a city of his, but he does not have one in mine.

You should be able to see the crabs for sale - it looks like the game can "see" it, else you wouldn't get the advice to transport those crabs to Kyoto.

        Funny?!

Do you have maps and a clear route between cities?
So one guy turns to another guy and says "T.A.I." His friends says "What?" He responds by saing "Think about it;)"

Hmm, all check. Well, I think I'll switch patches and see if that solves anything.

Note that the latest patch is 1.2 and this is the one you must have installed in both computers.
