  • Troll you will have plenty of games coming in every day.

It is actually 4 1 on 1 games.
    and eight team games.

about two of the eight team games will go somewhat
slow. The others will go pretty good. It is quite likely
that all the 1-1 games will go pretty fast.

All the games will be started from scratch.

(at least I think so, I doubt any of them are past move five.)

So for you, we would want to start them over

        • So..tell me..whats the difference between this SL & what the challenge matches?

Im up..seems reasonable..not so much teams but actually its not "1 vs 1" when you have ai either?

Let me know and someone set up and tell me when and where and so forth!

          Peace

          • The basic rules for SL are pretty much the same as challenge match as far as the game setups go. But SL is a tournament of teams. The teams are competeing based on both team games and individual 1x1 games.

Check this topped thread in the SL forum.

The pdf's there describe the tournament. If you
can't read them let me know. Otherwise take a few minutes to look it over; mainly "teams", "Game Settings" and "Scoring Rules", you would join Protoss in the team Rolling Thunder.

You could also look at the pairings there, but don't worry about it if it is confusing, I'll send you and your opponents instructions on how to start up all games.

You will go through a normal starting the game negotiation in all games before they start.
AI's are typically just two ai, and 1x1 humans. The team games are typically 2x2 with no AI.

If you still want to start, send me an email at

            gossett192 at yahoo dot com

and I'll send you (and your opponents) that detailed quick-start set of instructions.

I have had such a challenge-game with Math (and we are now playing a rematch with same number of AI-players). That is actually rather fun becuase a few of the AIs grows very-very strong before we (the socalled humans) catch up with them.

                      Yeah..me too..

But its a little different than I am used to!

On the OTHER END OF THE SCALE

I am playing a single player on a 200 X 400....so far so good...lots of room to expand..I also increased Govt.txt settings so as to allows for "adjusted" city threshold limits...

                      (Give me cities i say..MORE CITIES!! )

How does one do that? I always get annoyed with how low the thresholds are on huge maps...

simply edit the "govern.txt" file, which should be like in the \CTP\ctp_data\default\gamedata folder or such.
there all governments are listed, along with a line that says something about CITY THRESHOLD. edit that line for the government you like or for all of them.

i dont know though, how modifying this file will affect your PBEM and MP games, so a backup might be useful to switch back.
i dont think this information about the game is "locked in" into the game in the beginning of the game (and thus into each following .csg file).

a possible workaround might be to add additional governments to the file, which are then clearly recognizable as "cheat governments" for later games you play, so you simply use them in the "cheat games" but not in your real games. havent tried that completely yet, but i think it should work.

to modify the number of government, add whole blocks of

                          GOVERNMENT_NAME
                          {
                          ...
                          }

to the file, like the original ones and for each one increase the leading number in the file by one.
Baal: "You dare mock me ?"
O'Neill: "Baal, c'mon, you should know ... Of course I dare mock you."

                            • however...
its also possible to get any number of cities (at least 1000) without modifying the game files, which might be the bigger challenge to a guy like you.

simply get advanced and rich enough to build mind controller in each city, then rush buy mind controller in each new city you found.
at some point the new city will likely have a happiness of less than 73 for that one turn, so switch to a new government during the turn you found the city (only for the anarchy which has a city limit of 1000) until the mind controller has been completed.

hehe, its not that difficult. only if you want to make it compatible with other games you play.
for the beginning just search that file and edit the number in the line that says something like "maximum city threshold".
