As far as I know you can use the Modpicker to play mod without modifing original game files and should work fine with PBEM game as well. Not sure if it work with Celestial Dawn's mod too.

With regards to using CDs mod: If you want to play mods PBEM there are complications, although it is not necessary to use Modpicker, and I think it is unwise to. Many have tried and none of the games with more than 2 players have made it past about turn 10 due to the complications. I have played a couple of 2 player mod PBEM games with no problems.Comment
