  • help with MP setup...FAST

Hello everyone... First off I want to say I am not an idiot, but I sure feel like one. I have 2 friends that want to get a 3 way multiplayer game going. We went to Multiplayer, set up a profile Name / email everything else blank. Went to internet and sat for 5 minutes... NO SERVERS showed up. Then we went to TCP/IP LAN and tried there but there was NO place to put in an IP address, so one of us could host. (We have the CD btw...hehe). We can all get to the lobby1 but I am in my lobby and they are in their own lobby1s and we do not see anyone but ourselves (no way to join a game). I have played many online/multiplayer games both TCP IPX and internet and this one does not seem to give any way of hooking up. What am I missing?

Also... when we do get going on multiplayer, is there ANY way to switch to PBEM after a number of turns? The reason is that we all can play for about 1hour on saturday and would like to get through as many turns as possible but then finish the game over time via PBEM

    Looking forward to playing...

I just enter and saw 2 servers... maybe you need the servers.dat file, BlackIce had told why it could be corrupted... I don't remeber but if you want the file sent me an email : berXpert@yahoo.com.mx

Or just download it from my webpage:

look for the ZIP or DAT file

And about your second problem... no we have not found a way to switch to PBEM a multiplayer game yet.

Well you can rename the last save you have and add .CSG as extension but the game doesn't work like PBEM

        Thanks

Thanks alot... That did the trick for internet play. I can now see the servers. But it did not help for TCP/IP Lan game. I still do not see any way to put in my IP so that otheres that know my IP can put it in and then join my lobby. When I go to TCP/IP I end up in a lobby called lobby1 all by myself.

Also concerning internet vs PBEM games... what do you mean are differnet. We do not have a whole bunch of time to play the game but we do have about 1-2 hours on saturday so I was thinking that we could play more turns if we did not have to keep sending and loading the savegames... that was all.

One last thing. In looking at how to play the PBEM it seems that it is VERY easy to cheat ie look at the other persons turns, play a turn over and over, etc. Is this true? Will we have to just trust each other? I think I can trust my friend but to me it seems useless to play with unknown people over the internet.

btw .. I found the tips thread and saw you posting alot there... Thank you, and everyone else there for all the help and ideas... and also for this help too!!!!!!
