    Good point...

    Settings, anybody?

I'm thinking Earth-style... isn't that about the only thing we need to worry about with the Earth map?

What else is there? Barbarians? With ruins gone I'd almost like to see them gone as well... takes away that random element almost totally that way, you know?

    But what else is there?
I'm not conceited, conceit is a fault and I have no faults...

Civ and WoW are my crack... just one... more... turn...

If it is possible to exclude the babarians, then do it.

And let's have 8 players. Think the "trick" moving the Turks to Libya/Tunesia is fine. Should leave all enough room to expand.

About the settings you may start with something like this:

        Game Settings

        Skill level: ?
        Barbarian threat: ?
        Bloodlust: ?
        Pollution: ?

        Scenario Settings

        Starting with cities or settlers?
What additional units or techs do you want?

        Extra Settings

        PBEM Rules 2nd Edition: ?
        24-hour rule: ?
        Rated: ?
        Time Zone: ?

The standard map that is used is earth like and I think there are no ruins in it.

OK, I'll put the 8th civ where you propose to but the player located in America will have an advantage and all player should know that and agree with that.

Put the 8th civ in America, that's only fair. Divide America into 3 parts, north civ, middle civ and south civ. Give the middle civ the most room since it's got 2 borders instead of one like the north and south. In order to do this just pull up the native americans a bit and pull down the brazillians.

That is if there is an 8th player of course

              Game Settings

              Skill level: Deity
              Barbarian threat: ?
              Bloodlust: ON
              Pollution: ON

              Scenario Settings

              Starting with cities or settlers?

the least possible, prefer just 1 settler

What additional units or techs do you want?

              none

              Extra Settings

PBEM Rules 2nd Edition: haven't read them all the way through but it sounds fine
24-hour rule: don't mind, most times moderators allow a longer period anyway since they can't keep track of where the turn is all the time
Rated: sure, rate me in my other games as well
Time Zone: what do you mean? my own? Central European Time (CET not central eastern time )

              *****************

Of all these settings there is really only 1 that's important for me and that's Bloodlust ON, I dislike the Alien endgame win, it's much too soon and much too easy.

I say some kind of an accelerated start - 3 settlers or so.

With 7-8 players involved, the game has to be a little interesting from the start to keep it going.
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.

                        I agree with Birdman's.
                        Perfect victory is an allusion.

That would kick the native american further north to the tundra making it even worse than 3 civs in Asia.

I would recommend though that who ever goes to America, south or north wouldn't be the best and more experienced player in the game.
