PBEM Player List Options Poll


This is a poll to define what would be need or what would be useful from statistical point of view, to draw a PBEM player list available to all.
The purpose of the list is to gather useful information from all players into a single, easily accessed and readable location.

Below are the fields with explanations that will be included into the PBEM player list after your vote:

• Primary email address: The main, most often used email address for receiving turns and emails.
• Secondary email address: An alternative email address for receiving turns or emails in case the primary one fails.
• Total games: The total amount of games finished or in progress.
• Games in progress: The total amount of games in progress.
• Victories: The total amount of games finished in victory.
• Defeats: The total amount of games finished in defeat.
• Rated games: The total amount of games rated.
• AI level: The highest level ever beat the AI (e.g. Emperor, Deity, etc.).
• Nationality: The nationality.
• Time Zone: The time zone in Greenwich Time format (e.g. GMT + 02:00).
• Language version: The language version of CtP used (e.g. German, French, etc.).
• Platform: The platform used (e.g. Win, Mac, etc.).
• Availability: The availability for new games. High for lot of games, medium for few and low for very few up to none.
• Active: The activity of a player meaning whether someone is currently playing in any game or not. After three months of inactivity the entry is permanently deleted.

In the poll above, each field is represented twice. Once for including the field and once for excluding it. You only have to vote once for each field either by selecting the "Yes" or the "No" check box.

The fields total games and games in progress as well the fields victories and defeats respectively have been merged into two options instead of four for reasons of restrictions in the total amount of options in a poll.

If you have any recommendation for a new field not mentioned above or any comment at all please include it into your post.

Note that an Internet player list and a PBEM game list will follow shortly after.

Secondary email address: Only when one expects problems with known Primary should the next be added. 6/10

Total games: I can barely keep track of my own... would this be updated? And if so, how often. 7/10

Games in progress: Same as above. 7/10

Victories: Not needed very much unless we're going to incorporate with the PBEM rankings or something. 6/10

Defeats: same as above. 6/10

Rated games: Showing this is a must. 10/10

AI level: Not really needed, mainly because I don't want to be reminded of how much I suck, but different players are going to be at different levels, regardless, trying to rank them this way only means we don't need the victories/defeats. 3/10

Nationality: Maybe location instead... I don't see the need for this one. Unless we're talking preferred nationality in-game. 4/10

Time Zone: A must 11/10

Language version: A must 10/10

Platform: A must, so that the Mac users can get in touch with yours truly to get the proper conversion techniques. Go Mac! 9/10

Availability: good... 8/10

Active: also good... though if they disappear for a reason and say that they'll be back we shouldn't delete them. 8/10

Secondary email address: You never know when a problem might arise with your email If you only have one email address or you have another one but wish not to include it then you don't have to

Total and in progress games: It depends. Moderators and players will have to help on this. I will post a submission thread after we're done with the poll where new additions will be posted there. It won't be hard to post there everytime you join, drop, win or lose. It's not something that happens everyday

Victories, defeats and nationalities: Some fields are purely statistics. I am not ashame of my defeats or nationality and certainly not for my victories Location is already under each one's user name

AI level: It might help in tournaments or team games to balance things better.

Language version Shouldn't we know who's localized messages we read so we may ask him?

Total and in progress games This could aslo help players with less games been selected as replacements besides its obvious statistical purpose.

Country and nationality are identicall unless of cource someone is working or studing overseas but in that case people seem to be more bound with their nationality rather than the country of hospitality, at list most of the times. It defines the current nationality of a person and not previous nationalities, origin or ethnicity

Besides regardess whether this field is included or not in the player list nobody is obliged to fill it and that extends to all fields if someone feels strongly against it or have serious reasons not to complete it.

Location with the city and country mentioned could be a good substitute if that's what people wants
