  • Love Conquers-Part ?

The Love Conquers thread seems to have vanished (was it getting too long?), so I've started a new thread.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turn 225 to Tomas de Torquemada

Citizens of Greece are ecstatic to have rid themselves of the hated Ecotopia!!

Cities that were in danger of going Barbarian (even with numerous entertainers) are now showing happiness in the 80's with no entertainers!

It appears that the bug has been beaten...at least for now...

But Greece is again in Anarchy as we strive to reclaim our former government that was wrenched from us so unexpectedly. This means that our production still suffers, as does our game score, which has shown a marked decline since the start of our misfortune.

Still, all vital operations are still in very good shape!

    Xenophon...leader of the oh-so-happy anarchists

Turn 226 to Tomas de Torquemada

...and with today's return of our beloved Technocracy, Greek citizens are beside themselves with happiness!

In celebration, residents of Torquemadaville have thrown another Giant Squid on the barbie!

Turn 227 to Tomas de Torquemada

Greece requests that Spain remove their Destroyer from the volcano in Sushiville.

Aside from distressing the local squid, you take serious risks with the lives of your men, as this is an active volcano , prone to erupt frequently!

Once the Destroyer has passsed our city limits, we will likewise depart from the charming hamlet of Aqua Negro!

        Xenophon

PS. Thanks for the link, Keygen! For some reason I couldn't find the old thread anymore.

          The utter bare-faced cheek!!!

          That Destroyer will NOT move!

That destroyer has been in place since BEFORE Sushiville even came into existence! Greece is invading the ocean rift zone which has been under Spanish administration - she has been spreading like a plague throughout this area for years!

          Well NO MORE!

That destroyer will not move from it's own territory, Greece has to remove her Plasma Destroyer from it's illegal occupation of Agua Negro's Fisheries AND any subsequent cities built in Spains Rift area WILL BE DESTROYED!

Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

Madrid's allegations of Spanish administration of the undersea rift is ludicrous in light of the fact that until recently Spain's feeble technology made them unable to even visit the rift, but instead were confined to bobbing far above it in primitive vessels.

Greece on the other hand has been building underwater settlers for many years, and has a legitimate claim to all undersea territory she has reached and claimed first.

The fact that a Spanish ship has sailed over this region does not mean that Spain's had ever actually reached the ocean's floor and claimed land. The ocean's bottom along the rift was empty and unclaimed when Greek sea settlers reached it.

Greece had been hopeful that Spain would honour international law, but clearly Madrid is trying to provoke Athens , although our wrath is something you would be wise to avoid.

Still, this rift is but a trifle to Greece, as we have bigger fish to fry at the present time (and we're not talking about those giant squids!).

Join us in a reasonable solution to these frictions. Remove your Destroyer and we will move our Plasma Cruiser, and we can both return to a peaceful if delicate coexistence.

And speaking of our Plasma Cruiser, it's Captain reported seeing only a motley assortment of floating wooden boards at this location, so Greece does not understand Spain's allegation that she is on a fishery.

Spain is disappointed that instead of trying to diffuse the situation, Greece has seen fit to increase tensions by hurling petty insults!

Spain has no problems with Greece building her underwater cities - just as long as she sticks to building them in her own backyard!!!

The fact that a Spanish ship has sailed over this region does not mean that Spain's had ever actually reached the ocean's floor and claimed land. The ocean's bottom along the rift was empty and unclaimed when Greek sea settlers reached it.
That the territory is unoccupied does not mean that it is unclaimed! Claiming the land above means claiming the land below - that is why international fishing rights are upheld as the fish swim underneath the surface! It is also why Oil Rigs, whilst on the surface, drill throught the ocean's floor!

Greece had been hopeful that Spain would honour international law, but clearly Madrid is trying to provoke Athens , although our wrath is something you would be wise to avoid.
Spain cannot be held to ransom by Greek interpretation of 'international law' and finds it rich that Greece talks of Spanish 'provocation', which she has been crawling all over Spanish territory like an unsightly rash!

Join us in a reasonable solution to these frictions. Remove your Destroyer and we will move our Plasma Cruiser, and we can both return to a peaceful if delicate coexistence.
Spain has joined Greece in a reasonable solution to these frictions by 'removing' Greece's Plasma Destroyer and reclaiming her Fisheries. All other incursions on Greek owned resources by Spanish forces in protest of Greece's illegal trespass have withdrawn...

And speaking of our Plasma Cruiser, it's Captain reported seeing only a motley assortment of floating wooden boards at this location, so Greece does not understand Spain's allegation that she is on a fishery.
Indeed, your Captain will have a closer look as he passes it on his way to the bottom of the ocean - think of this as Spain allowing a free Greek 'colonisation' of the ocean floor...

Naturally any aggression on Greece's part will result in the confiscation and destruction Greece's three illegal settlements of the Ocean Rift's 'West Bank'.

Spain hopes that Greece realises that her bluff has been called and has the good sense to make nothing more of the situation. A peace treaty has been offered and a diplomat will be along presently to resume diplomatic relations...

Turn 229 to Tomas de Torquemada

In spite of recent transgressions, Greece is willing to make peace with Spain, as we place very little import on undersea settlements, being focused on far more weighty matters.

Therefore, we have signed the proposed peace treaty.

However, we have billed Spain for the replacement cost of one (1) Plasma Cruiser, as our Captain has verified that it was indeed destroyed by those in the employ of Madrid.

We request payment in gold, as frankly we have no interest in currency of Spanish origin (particularly in light of the upcoming new world-wide currency).

We look forward to hearing from Spain as to how the bullion shall be delivered to Greece.

Spain appears to have lost the invoice for (1) Plasma Destroyer - it could be that it was accidentally filed in the bin labelled 'TRASH'...

Greece requests that Spain honour their recent agreement by removing a Destroyer currently under their control from Sushiville's undersea mine.

As for Madrid's misplacement of our bill for the Plasma Destroyer, Athens is willing to chalk this up to sloppy management, and trusts that payment will soon be made. Athens will not ask again...

But Greece is confident that reimbursement will be made...and rather soon, at that!

Greece continues under the delusion that Spain is happy to continue to allow the encroachment of Greece onto the Greater Iberian Rift Economic Development Zone (GIREDZ).

This is an utter fabrication on the part of the Greeks!

Spain has already taken the unequivocal stance of stating that that Destroyer will not be moving from a position that it has held since before Sushiville was even built!

Spain understands what happened over this disputed invoice. Spain's CFO treated it with such derision that he did not even bother bringing it to the attention of the Political Wing. Apparently we cannot pay a compensation of only one gold and therefore choose to pay nothing!

But Greece is confident that reimbursement will be made...and rather soon, at that!
If Greece decides to take this further, then so be it! Spain has been more than patient in dealing with Greek transgressions - indeed it would seem that a growing faction of hawks is intent on exploiting this perceived weakness!

Greece would do well to remember Spain's threat concerning the further settlement of GIREDZ by Greek interests - it would mean the occupation of ALL Greek settlements in this area, which might in turn either appease or inflame the passions of Spanish Hawks!
