  • Best way to have science SOAR?

I have enjoyed the lessons learned so far. My question to all you "Greats" is this...whats the best wya to have science soar?

I build lots of caravans, thats one way.

I was wondering, do big cities on Capitaization do any good?

Do mines work better than farms in providing gold + science?

Tell us in the comunity all those dirty little secrets to success!!!

And I aint accusing no one of cheating!!..By secrets, i mean Tips or trade secrets as in tested, tried and proven methods that are successful!

    Yours in Civin

On a sea map I think high growth science cities is the best way with academy publishing house and uni - get them to size 7 or 8 - and 5 such cities will add 1000 to your science

On a land map - I think there is only one way - SCOUT the land build a lot more cities than u normally would- pushing them outward always until you occupy a big area.... look for triples of the same good in a city radius, then once you have your territory mapped, move settlers to occupy all necessary trade goods within your occupied area... don't build unecessary improvements.... stcik with granaries aquas mills and factories, happiness improvements as necessary, trade centres OBVIUOLSY build markets and banks... and make SURE you are working trade goods.... don't leave it to AI to set which city squares u work - I usually get a science of 1400-1600 in rennaissance, based on 35 cities and around 20 -24 caravans, all working monopolies.... also try to specialise in a couple of goods, forests yield only beaver so u get better monopoloies and plains for elephant.. BUT don't overway your civ with science, production is your number one priority...

So mines, mines and more mines = production+gold+science.

When i first played CTP, i used my Civ2 skills and avoided mountains like the plague. Needless to say, i played dismally until i started using them.

The most important place on any map is the part with rivers on mountains, perferably with trade goods. I was unusually aggressive in Lung's FAST! pbem by moving right up to Paul's civ as he was in the prime position. Time proved me right as the region ultimately proved to be the deciding factor in the game. The fact that Paul now looks like winning is beside the point Anyway, it serves me right by playing him at his own game I should have stuck to what i'm good at - war
