        OUTRAGE!!!

What a bunch of profiteering bastards!! You know, if people had to wait 6 months to buy the wheels for their new car, and it cost half the price of the car, people wouldn't do business with them. Unfortunately, no one else makes CivIII, so we're completely buggered!!

        SNARL! GREAT GNASHINGS OF TEETH!!!

Bye the looks of things. We wont get PBEM till spring. Whether it comes in patch or 'Gold edition'. Firaxis isnt answering any of the questions ACS members are sending. Currently there is a ring of silence and cospiracy around the whole PBEM issue.

a little big of good news

Well I found out about barbarians. There are no huts. There are 'Encampments' that randomly generate modern 'rebels'. And are all over, and can sprout up randomnly. The player can choose to eradicate them..or you can befriend and leave them alone to agitate your enemys and neighbors

So now we will have the choice to go after the 'barbarians' and the 'nations who harbor them'.

            Sound familiar

only a few weeks till release. looks good so far, except MP. Which is still unconfirmed. Ebay and things are advertising "Fully integrated multiplayer". At this point, nobody knows whats up

Thanks Saddam, for reminding me! Damn, it's really so close! Can't believe I'm going to play Civ 3 in just over a month. Though, as we approach the release date so much, I get a little bit less excited about Civ 3. But it's still very promising, if only I'll get it to work on my damn monitor, will need to some hacking. Those Firaxians ain't as good as they seem.

Oh, and yes, I don't think we should pay for multiplayer. I will for sure download the Multiplayer patch, if such comes, in spring, but if the 'Multiplayer Edition' will be in another box, costing 30$, I won't be getting it, or at least not till it becomes very cheap. Asking money for a feauture! They could just as well not include the single player mode, and say it will come later.

Actually Solver I completely agree. This whole MP issue is like a burr up my ass. Its amazingly annoying!

If they just came out of the closet and say what the status of MP is.....There silence is speaking for itself right now.

If there is a patch, fine! If there is a gold edition, not so fine. I wont buy a gold edition.....Im with you solver. I refuse to pay twice for somthing they promised to come in 1 package. Not to mention everybody see through the 'gold edition' scam. Its nothing more than a ruthless grab for profits.

                    forced into piracy

I don't want to rant and rave about exploitation. Microsoft are still the kings of that.

But here in Thailand there is the computing 'Alladin's cave', it is a shopping center called pantip plaza. It is an unbelievable place, 5 floors of wall to wall computing. hardware, software, repair shops, it has almost everything. 128mb RAM chips are now 20us$.
For software and games, usually I prefer to have the real thing as manuals and other printables come with them. But often I will buy the cheap copy, 4us$, to make sure it is any good. For some games such as CM (championship manager, english football game) I have no qualms abut buying the copy. This is because it is re-released every year up-dated, for the same price. In reality they could leave downloadable patches on their web site for updates.
When a company like firaxis tries to exploit I will happily go and buy the copy. In fact I can often not tell the differce between the copy and real thing in appearance. But when the disc is open the copy usually will have a no CD crack too!!!!

                    oh well ce'st la vie

one last thing. My heart goes out to all the victims of the 11th, and would like to offer my support for the US people in such troubling times. All my problems now seem so insignificant.
