Okay time now confirmed..... we will see if a 4th player offers to play.... The game I suggest is called 'Posturing' and we will meet at Cali12 at the appointed time.....

I suggest we use a reg map (as I am European might be slow)

1: Reg Map, Donut world, Island Game
2: 5000 gold 5 Settlers
3: Max ocean, Island 3, Max goods, others down the middle
4: King or Emporer
5: Alliances, Tech swapping, Map Swapping Private Messaging not allowed.
6:Blackice will moderate all turns.
7: Session will last to a max of THREE hours

It should be a good game.

We should discuss somthing important... I play VERY fast turns. Because I setup my building queqe's and City settings when its not my turn. My turns (even towards the end of the game) last only 25-50 seconds...

So a Time-limit would work great too keep the game going fast!

No Saddam, no speed turns... the game will have as much a social element as a competition element - whilst playing I like to chat - Quinns is a good friend, and we like to talk as we play - I sure hope that you and berXpert join in the chat too... We are old men and cannot be rushed.....

I suggest that we do not have alliances and tech swapping and private messaging for fairness and you now want to do the exact opposite..... I thought the idea of the game was to check out the relative strengths of the 'Elite GLers ' against us lowly converts..... Moderator.... a ruling pleae.....

Sure you should RESTRICT (not outlaw) tech exchange, but you PM and alliances are part of the game



Also I think Max water is lame. I like the 'continents' game. Bye setting water on 6 and continents on 8...

May I make a suggestion? Why not just meet up on Saturday and pair up do what ever and play? I will moderate any game I am not in.

One word of caution Saddam has claimed to know of a science bug. He has yet to tell anyone here that I know of what it is. If you don't know how a bug works how do you know what to look for? I personally will not play him till he comes clean, and don't beleive he is acting in the spirit of why this was setup to begin with.

I will also add since we don't know how the bug is used or what to look for you may reconcider making it a rated game as how other than the obvious (Is it?) is a moderator suppose to accurately moderate a game?

You claimed to play Paul you did not, you claimed to play these other GL players yet you ignore repeated request's for your GL name so as this tale can be verified. You claim there is a science bug but refuse to tell any one about it... trust, honesty, openess and is not the first words that come to mind when I hear your name. I mean no offence again by this but, have the facts will have the opinion. Care to change my mind?

IMO this is not the way we operate here is it??? Again Saddam this is not a personal attack it looks that way but it is not. It is a fact finding lets clear the air statement. It is a freindly atmosphere here and as freinds we share important information to help keep the game clean and as far from the GL atmosphere and lack of integrety that has dogged it for some time now.

I know I know work on your diplomacy lol...

You know, Blackice, that sounds like the best suggestion yet. Anyone interested in playing a CTP Internet Rated game, just meet at the Cali12 server at 7:00 a.m. Los Angeles time on Saturday. Too many times we have tried to organize beforehand, only to have someone or other not show up for one reason or another. Whoever is there, we will decide then how to split up and what the settings are. That sounds great Blackice!

Blackice, some wise words. factual and I hope no offence is taken. What I suggest is the following:

We all meet up as agreed and we pair into two player games.. I will take on Saddam, unfortunately the game will, needs must be unrated... The crazy thing is Saddam is, at present, in a lose lose situation - If I beat him, he loses, if he beats me, the veil of suspicion and mystery he has thrown up will lead us to believing it was dishonest - Saddam please address these issues whilst you have time.


As regards settings, we will leave all sliders in the central position as we have different preferences....

Saddam, you I hope will post prior to Saturday to account for your previous posts.... Frankly there are one or two people here rattled by your comments as we set this Ratings Thread up to avoid the Gutter Issues that you are bringing here...

Sure gav,Ive been on CTP LAN for 3 years now. I did register for GL, but I never did accumulate a good record, or a meaningful record at all.Before the 1.2 patch came out, CTP TCP was alot CTP2 and it was difficult to run through a game. My name, I must check, if im not mistaken. It should be Saddam Hussien or Saddam.

Yes I played all the old guys. Yoda, Tal, Sir Leaf,Tito, Zar. All are excellent players. I assure you Gav, Im no walkover, and any underestimation of me will be fatal on your part

Recently after about 8 months of not playing CTP, I went back and then in January I was lucky enough to hear about 'PBEM' from if I remember correctly, you Quinns.

I was given a link, a started browsing the through the games and began reading them, and got interested in PBEM and joined it. Then I stopped LAN again for a few months(was playing PBEM) until I got a Message from Nuke boy who wanted to play over TCP with me. I had no objections, so there we get toghether every night and play games.

yes Gav i have apoligized for my dumb comments, I dont know what came over me. If I remember i was agitated and tired that night. I know, still no damn excuse for what I said.


I have also sent an email to GL asking for my pw. It was stored on my old cpu browser, which currently resides in the garage. Tho This play is not for GL right?




I will obtain the savegame file and send it for ratings...

The Science bug was an obtainable crack a few years back that people were using. Instead of getting 50%, 60%, 70% of Science dollars invested.

It gave you 53%,63%,73% (always +3) etc. Odd bug, but it nonetheless gave people a noticable science edge. This was a cracked executable and was available on a university server. And it was about 600mb. So it was pretty big. I recall many people downloaded and many people still probably use it.

I have also heard complaints about a crack that gave you less science like 49%, 59%,69%. But the two cracks are not related.

I know some other dumb bugs of the game . None as seroius as that one. but nonetheless, there bugs.

I would hate to think you were a bad player, and never imagined for one minute you were anything other than a good player - I will tell you now, I do not get depressed distressed, or even mildly annoyed when I lose, I learn from it, and enjoy the game...

It is a pity you will not play an islands game, but I am sure that we will spar many times on different kinds of map - but for now I hope you agree neutral settings Reg Map - 5 settlers 5000 gold to start- and yeh no wonders.. bloodlust on pollution on, and donut world? emporer or king? - I usually say no nukes, if the game gets that far... do you agree?
