  • Turn 159 --> Comrade Thor

As new hope springs that St Jon might be alive and well, Greece maintains a policy of "watch and wait". We request that Spain also stay their hand before rushing into an unknown situation in France. It is possible that the sudden appearance of Spanish rescue troops might only make the situation worse! By all means, ready your troops for a lightning raid to save St Jon, should that become necessary, but for now, please excercise cautious restraint!

However, should the price of French Foie Gras indeed rise, that would constitute a National Emergency for Greece, and would necessitate an immediate corrective mission into France, until such a travesty could be reversed. We hesitate to even contemplate the horror of a shortage of Champagne...
    ==============

Congratulations are in order to Wales for the recent peaceful transition of their government. We also congratulate our old friend Constantine for having made the change without any major disruption or chaos.

    ==============

Comrade Thor, we have not the heart to dispatch your ancient Knight in the manner you suggest. Would it not be preferable to disband the aging rider, and put both he and his steed out to a well-deserved pasture? Surely the salary you must pay him each month cannot be delivering any value to Inca, as he appears to spend it all in Greek taverns on drink and wenches!

But if you do not wish to disband him, at least order his removal from fertile Greek land to a nearby glacier, where he will have adequate ice for all his drinks...

    • "The peacefull transition from the previous theocratic regime to the new national state has been successfully completed. However a brief period of anarchy followed the transition as expected. Supporters of the older goverment, clerics in the majority and religious citizens resisted on the new order. No casualties has been reported from both sides and the inciters of the revolt has been sent to the high security prison of Cartigan in the same section Braker Morant is holded to be put in trial.

King Constantine resigned from the throne of Wales, abolished Monarchy and created the National Party by putting himself to its leadership and leading Wales to the new reality.

It was a nessesary transition after the rapid rise of nationalism in Wales, French caused by their direct contestation of the Welsh territorial integrity and the threat of scaling hostilities and invading Wales by air and sea.

The Welsh stance against her enemies is anticipated to further harden and become less elastic in the future.

However the new government wishes a peacefull cooexistance with our neighbors and is ready to give the chance to the implacable French to reconsider their acts.

We shall grant a grace period to the French of unspecified time to disband the city of Le Palais and publically appologize for their crimes against Wales.

Be warned though that if any French offensive force is spotted within or near or heading to Welsh territory will be destroyed.

Le Palais will be blocked by sea and air and no foreign presence will be permited to approach.

We wish peace with the French and the immidiate cease of the hostilies but Paris must accept our legitimate rights"

      National Party

        • Turn 160 --> Comrade Thor

A special pre-apocalypse thank you to Comrade Thor for removing his knight from Greek farmlands. May he find gratification in retirement.

Greek hardware stores are reporting a run on mops, canoes and bailing equipment, but the weather today in Athens is sunny and dry. Not a hint of biblical vengeance in the air.

But just in case, it's time now to batten down the hatches!!

            • GRRRR! This is really beginning to piss me off!!!

              Keygen I sent the turn to: costas_additional@yahoo.com, costas_temp@yahoo.com, torick1@earthlink.net, markbalt@ameritech.net, MarkBalt...

Rick received and ultimately played the turn, I'm sure he can verify the rest of the addressees...

I did get a mail undeliverable for the 'temp' address, but the other seemed to go fine.

I am starting to get a little annoyed with constantly changing your email address for the only reason that you're letting them get clogged up - I don't want to have to do it again!

Everything was working fine until you started deciding to keep your turns on your yahoo account and change your account every few weeks...

Why don't you take responsibility of keeping one yahoo account free by forwarding turns to other yahoo accounts for safe keeping?

Just how many additional yahoo accounts are you thinking of having!!?

              • You are funny guy Mobius .

The latest email address I emailed to all who send me turns incuding you was costas_additional2@yahoo.com a few days ago.

Before I decide changing email address every week I tried these:

                1) Download emails from my work. Failed. It seems they had configured their mail server not to download emails from external sources.

                2) Forward emails to another Yahoo account. Failed. Forward not supported for Yahoo accounts.

                3) Created a hotmail account to forward there the emails. Failed. Forward not supported for Hotmail accounts.

                4) Forward to my ISP email account. Failed. Forward supported this time but I couldn't access it through web or download it.

                5) Tried to create another account at net@ddress but discovered they charge money for it.

I though to ask people who send me turns to keep them for a while and send me later so I would be able to delete any mail from my Yahoo account. But maybe some people wouldn't won't to keep extra emails for several reasons or accidentally delete them.

I am sure that I could find some way to keep one address if I had more time but I had work to do also.

I apologized for the inconvenience every time I changed address.

None complained and none turn was missed.

You are the only one complaining though you have the right and the only one who didn't send me the turn to the right address at the right time.

And the most important you didn't post that you had send the turn so you must share your responsibilities.

I am sorry if I caused you such a problem with my problem but be sure that if you were in my position I would understand you and I wouldn't complain about it.

BTW, I expect to have Internet connection again at Tuesday so everything will return to normal.

                • Turn to Madrid.

                  OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF THE FPDF

Today advanced Units of the APF advanced to within a few metres of the old Presidential Palace driving out the vile capitalist oppressors who were seeking to replace religeous dogma with worship of the Franc. We shall prevail, brothers and sisters! The people have spoken and nothing shall stand before us.

                  OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF THE UDF

The fight for a truly democratic France continues but a momentous victory has been achieved. Rebel Units of Armie du Sud were destroyed as they lauched an abortive attack upon our beloved capital. We cannot now fail as all parties dedicated to democracy have joined together under a single flag. Now too even the 'Sons of St Jon' have joined with us in our fight for liberty. Once the remaining rebel forces have been defeated free and fair elections shall be held and France will proudly join the community of modern nations.

French Civil War - Crisis Deepens.

Reports have come in of increasingly heavy fighting in and around Paris itself. It is unclear as to even who is fighting who as the two major factions appear as divided amongst themselves as between eachother. In Lille, supposedly solidly under the control of the newly formed FPDF, fighting was reported between supporters of the old National Front and the Communist Corps IV. Similar confusion reigned in Le Mans as shots were exchanged between the now alied supporters of the 'Sons of St Jon' and the Democratic Front. In Dieppe, previously peaceful, fighting errupted when a sighting of the Saint himself was reported and Divisions of Armee Nord-Ouest turned upon eachother. It is doubtful if the eventual victors in this terrible conflict will inherit anything more than a terminally shattered shell of a once great nation.

                  • Truly a catastrophe!!!

The once proud and progressive peoples of Spain are in a state of collective shock!!!

How were we to know that the name of progress would unleash such a force of nature that the World had never seen before - entire regions of land, swept away under the oceans and rivers changing their courses!!!

And yet worse is due to come in less than another 30 cycles!!!

We Spanish have seen the error of our ways and next cycle will reseach Conservation in order to some way turn back the clock of our environmental destruction!

This advance will immediately be made available to those governments will to follow Spain's lead in building recycling plants and more nuclear plants...

To this end Spain asks for Incan support by renouncing Communism and finding an alternative type of government, as the pollution of Communism will be far too much for our fragile planet...

What hath mankind wrought upon the world?

Both flooding and parching have devistated whole regions, and it is hard to judge the total effect upon the people of this planet. While we're not yet aware of any loss of life, many people in Greece have been severly impacted, and the implications for social change are yet to be studied.

Dire news, as numerous rivers have suddenly dryed up throughout Greece. It is an unsettling sight to find sailing ships now sitting high and dry in the middle of wheatfields. As hunger sets in, some of the less educated mutter of witchcraft, and look for a scapegoat.

Thousands of panicked fishermen have marched on Athens, seeking help, but the only solution appears to be that they move their homes to some of the newly formed rivers. Government organizations have been formed to help aid them in these moves.

Greece is grateful for the magnanimous offer by Tomas de Torquemada for new technology to help combat worldwide pollution, and would ask that such scientific knowledge be shipped to Greece posthaste. We pray that other nations will also take advantage of Spain's selfless offer, that such a calamaty which has befallen us never happen again!

We hope the distinguished Spanish cavalry officer that we have encountered enjoys a pleasant journey on the languid Taramosalata River, and have sent protection lest any stray Barbarians suddenly threaten him! But please be aware that a goup of starving Greek fishermen will be sailing down the river next turn, to settle a fishing colony...

                            • Turn to Madrid.

The proletariat have spoken! The tyranny of centuries has been cast down and true democracy prevails in France.

Today I was unanimously elected leader of the Peoples Democratic Republic of France. Despite the lies put about by scoundrels who would seek to undermine the new Government these were free and fair elections and merely because certain citizens were unable to vote it should be remembered that the franchise does not extend to either criminals or lunatics. Since only a madman, or treasonous dog, would seek to vote against me it should be no surprise that I was elected unopposed.

From this day forth France shall concentrate upon giving the masses what has for so long been denied them. Gone forever are the days of 12 hour shifts in the sweat shops of the idle rich, never again shall our young men face conscription into an army of oppression, we shall not waste time or valuable resourses upon Cathedrals but instead build places of entertainment for the workers to enjoy their increased leisure time. It is a new dawn and a new France, Brothers and Sisters!

                              Chairman Jon, PDRF.

                              • Spain notes with concern that yet another Communist regime has surfaced with the overthrow of St. Jon...

This at a time when global warming has finally been proved as the scourge that our enlightened scientists have been warning for years!

Spain calls upon both Inca and France to renounce Communism as the foul polluting government that it is and embrace Fascism - if your governments are both willing, Spain will gladly instruct both nations in the art of making one's trains run on time...

                                Dearest Xenophon,

Regarding the Taramasolata river, this is our natural border and one in which you hold most of the river in your territory - we too have starving fishermen and river traders who have been similarly displaced! Spain has a larger population than Greece, but is cramped into a far smaller space, surely you understand that we should have the right of colonisation of this small scrap of land when you have so much more than us!?

Our Cavalry is in situ, with a settler already well on his way...

                                A small problem...

Spain was unable to research Conservation this cycle as it was not an option for us - evidently our scientists were not concerned with what they thought was the hoax of global warming...

Perhaps Greece or another nation could research this advance, in the interests of the future of our planet? We have but 30 cycles before the effects of the next stage of global warming are felt and it will not be a pretty sight!

Failing that, Spain will attempt to try again once she has researched her next advance - either way, we call upon Inca, France and Greece to lower their production as yours are the civilisations with the most polluting cities...
