  • Do you know what I think????

No of course - except something I wouldn't write anyway

Who says that we should give up "our" nations just because we didn't want - or didn't have time - to play anymore?????

We all know, that certain games looses and gains depending if some new comes in taking control of a country. Alliances are made, old turned down.

Why not try to make some "disturbance" in some of the old games?

If some would be interested, I could maybe offer participation in the US game now. I am afraid, that this game would turn too peacefull now, that 3 nations are allied against one and with one neutral, all are more or less in peace - anyway the spanish would never have a chance if they tried to wage war against the whole alliance or tried to build the alian life. A new player might do something about this.

I have not discussed this with anybody before and I am not sure, I actually would do this - but what do you think??????

Nice introduction on getting someone in a game!

      Hey Keygen.

This is not recruitment - this might be breaking up with traditional thinking.

I have only used the US, as this might too be peacefull now.

Surely the DC-game could also need some dynamite now (that Jon, Frazer and me are eliminated from there). Just look how busy they are building "I-love-also-you" improvements.

I know EXACTLY what Bird is talking about

          WAR!

          WAR!

          WAR!

In standard CTP, there is more than one way to strive for victory, which is, IMO, one of CTP's greatest assets. As most of you know, diplomacy plays a crucial role in carrying out a particular strategy... yada, yada, yada...

This is the reason I like Zobo's idea so much

For all of you warmongers, THERE IS HOPE!!

              Without insulting any (yet):

I do have three persons, that I for various reasons will try to avoid playing with in the future.

If you should feel yourself one of the "lucky" ones, feel free to mail me direct and I will give you a serious answer ("No" without any other explanation - "Yes" with an explanation).

                BirdMan,
I would kindly ask you to speak with them (if you do) through email/private messaging. I've always liked it that you never insult people, and don't want to see insults on the board. Any will be removed by me.

Dutcheese encouraged me to switch from lame LAN/TCP to PBEM.I first read it in October of 2000, when things started to get good... I loved the diplomacy, almost like somthing in real life!

What Jon,Thor,BM,Blackice, and Fraze did for the 'pep' of the game was unbelievable. Made me want to come back reading everytime.

anyway, thanks for the entertainment guys

I know it's not possible, but wouldn’t it be fun if we could introduce new players and civs during a PBEM game.

For example we could then turn DC (if it really has gone off the boil) into an alien invasion scenario by suddenly introducing one or two high tech Civs from outer space, to try and take over the planet. The existing native Civs would then have to work together to try and survive against the more advanced but smaller invaders.

I must agree, I used to read Dutcheese with great interest and was really happy to join in when Luk offered me the position. I did the best I could to keep the diplomacy in that game the same.

In a way I am disappointed that Jon and Birdman were eliminated from the game, the two of them did an amazing job at bringing diplomatic intrigue and the overall fun of the game. I have yet to have this much fun in a game. Thanks Jon and BirdMan!

Its kind of sad that the World has fallen into the position it is in now. The world is a mess (thanks in part to the efforts of Jon and Birdman to pollute all they could before they were wiped out), and everyone is concentrating on cleaning up the pollution and building improvements.. no one is interested in some action.

I think I might add a little adventure to the game, but the problem is BirdMan's counter offensive towards the end of the war really did major damage to my military.

I think the AI is way too dumb fraze...

Yes thor, DC got me thinking.....I thought strange things like... It seemed like the Vikings were forced into being a puppet of Birdman.

strange things like that.... I remember getting a turn after asking to see the pollution... Ireland and england had polluted about 1/3 of there landscape. Which suprised me, because never had i seen Pollution so bad!

That had to have been a huge problem for the Commi's..

CtP is a Game and, as such, should be fun!

Any Game which, long before it is over, has an obvious winner simply becomes a job of work. Even if the odds are long against you, as they were for us in DC, you still should try whilst there is any chance at all. It is otherwise the boring routine of hitting 'New Game' when playing against the AI because you know that you've already won even if it will take countless Turns until you see the Victory Screen.

An injection of fire into a Game that has stagnated could work wonders but how could it be done if all of the Secondary Powers had already accepted ultimate defeat? To many mere survival until the final Turn is satisfaction enough and the fear of extinction too much to bear.

Fun Threads are most important in boring Games, or Games going through boring times, but the real diplomacy does not happen here! They are also very important in getting other people interested in joining Games through the enjoyment of reading the quasi-narrative.

You know, I realized that the World and the Love Conquers games have the potential to be somewhat like DC. Especially Love conquers though. All the players are active in role playing and although a winner is quite apparent it could still be a very interesting game.

Same thing with World. Almost all the players in that game are different from the original ones. (except americans I think). And they are all (except Brazilians) quite active in the role playing.

Well if I were a smaller civ, you wouldn't catch me accepting ultimate defeat!

The object of the game is to win - or die trying...
