Well... a topic about all those CTP players who have got bored playing against the AI and looking for a human opponent and... don't know how to start or join a PBEM game . We all were in that position in the one or the other way once .
So here you will be able to find or ask for valuable information about this seductive way to play against humans called PBEM or indicate your desire to play PBEM!

Here are some basic things you should know about PBEM:

    1. PBEM is the way to start a game with human opponents without having to worry about the time pressure:
"Damn I have to leave. I have an urgent job to do"
"Common harry up dude! I don't want to wait a whole life to play the next turn!"
"I am an American. I can play from 1:00AM-5:00AM (GMT). Man, I am Europian and I can only play from 6:00PM-10:00PM (GMT)."
    "Is it day or night?"
You can play via email at any time you like and yes you can go to the rest room without having to worry about what excuse to find .

    2. Have a question?
    a) Do you want to join a PBEM? Post here or post your own topic asking to join a game.
    b. Do you want to start your own game but don't know how? Post here or post your own topic asking for people to join in and how you start it.
    c. Do you want info about everything except Multiplayer? Post your question to "CtP-General/Help/Strategy" forum.

    3. To play PBEM you must have 1.2 patch. If you don't have it you can find it here on Apolyton or on Activision.

    4. The Hack patch 1.21 is not required but you can have it installed if you like.

    5. If you are thinking of getting engaged to PBEM games then you should know that we PBEM players do not like players who disappear without giving a reason why they did.

    6. New PBEM gamers are consider people who have a little PBEM experience like just having started playing PBEM game a couple of months the most or had played one on the past but had dopped it or never played PBEM before.

    7. Well, I can't think anything else ...for now

I would greatly appreciate any assistance from any PBEM player who is interested on helping this topic work fine! A couple of players who visit this forum often enough to be considered CTP maniacs and do read the posts on a regular basis. Who are experienced PBEM player and can answer any (almost) question about PBEM.

Any youngblood looking for his first PBEM game experience?

    Hail all

Ya I'm a CTP youngblood. I've played civ board game and every civ computer game to present.

I'm in Monkey1 and Monkey2 games at present, (perm sub for Monkey), and I'm lookin for a game to start from square 1. It would be nice to be a rated game too.

I know alot of the "regulars" are playing alot of games already so I guess I'm callin' out to about 4 or 5 youngbloods.

Anyway give a post if interested, and I'll start a separate post.

    tnx

Keygen - if you were not a male I would say: I just love you......

This is THE tread for wanna-be-PBEMs.

It's great to see 'youngbloods' to CtP joining the ranks! Finding new opponents is great but the failure rate is so very high. It is sad to say but bitter experience has taught me to be cautious and I got a fair bit of stick for creating a 'by invitation only' Game to avoid boundless enthusiasm that would disappear after a few months. A PBEM Game, other than a DM, can be counted upon to last for a year or more and that takes 'genuine' sustained interest.

It's been great, and a big plus to the games concerned, to have Quinns, Thor and Birdman as new opponents who are very good and very much into the 'spirit' of the Game. PBEM is different because the Turn Rate is so slow that you do need the 'Fun' that it should be come through all the more.

Great Thread to start Keygen! We are a small community and all the blood that can be spilt is welcome, and should be welcomed, be it young or old.

Acually Yeti I will start a trilogy of PBEM games with me in them. One with the oldest PBEM gamers, one with the best old or new and one with youngbloods. These games will be based on the Keygen's Series model (for more info see the topic under the title "Keygen's PBEM Series: Proposals & Ideas!"). You could with all these youngbloods join this game. If interested on starting a new game on your own then I will participate but it would be better to join just one PBEM the same players, except if there are more youngbloods to come next week when I will post my "calling" .

BirdMan I wouldn't have any objection on loving me. I would start getting worried if you were about to get in love with me

Thank you both Birdman and Jon for your good words!
I would like two old PBEM gamers like you to assist me here though .

Hi Karl, good to see you here.

The only thing you have to do is to run the executable you have downloaded. The rest will do it the installer itself. If you had run the executable and nothing happend then try to download it again from the Apolyton site.

1-2 PBEM games will begin this weekend or next week. You can join it/them. We will let you know when they will start and what you will have to do to play to them in this topic mainly.

Oh, Yeti I almost forgot about it .
This game could be rated by the CTP rating system developed by Quinns and Solver.

We could start a game with the three youngbloods and the me, BirdMan and St Jon.
This would be the youngbloods against the "oldbloods".
