Below are the general rules for all PBEM games using the Keygen's PBEM Series rules in detail.
Categories
Deathmatch: Games in small maps and mostly modified to accelerated start. Its purpose? But of course to reduce the time a PBEM game lasts.
Standard: For gamers who like more diplomacy and fun and are willing to spend maybe more than a year for a game to come to an end.
Rules
Moderator: Every game should have at least one moderator who will not be permitted to play on the specific. His job will be to track the turn speed of the game and when a player haven't played his turn on a specific period which will be defined from the supervisor then he will open his turn and hit the END button or play it depending on the player's demand which will be determined on the beginning of each game.
Supervisor: He will be the one who starts the game. His job will be to supervise the game and notify the appropriate player/s about anything that doesn't work right. Like when moderator “forgets" to next turn a player or when a player "resigns" he will be responsible on finding a substitute, etc.
The supervisor will determine the rest of the rules for the game he starts.
Notification emails & posts
Every player has to send each turn he plays to the moderator too and post to the respective topic a notification that the turn has been played and sent to the next player. This way the moderator will be able to enforce the 24-hour rule efficiently. This is mandatory and has to be kept by all players. An email notification of turn sent to the player who supposed to receive the turn and to the next player after the one who receives the turn can be done also after participants’ mutual agreement. The notification email in the subject must refer to the title of the game, to the turn and to the player that has been sent to. (e.g. Keygen's PBEM game Turn 1 sent to Keygen).
Recommended rules:
Deathmatch: Small or standard map, 4-6 players, Accelerated Start, 24-hour turn rate.
Standard: Regular or huge map, 4-6 players, Accelerated Start, 24-hour turn rate
Mods
If the mods are custom and not "ready" like Medieval Mod then it is recommended not to modify any of the default game's files but only the files within scenario’s folder.
Patches
All of the players have to have patch 1.2 in order to play PBEM games.
Localized versions
The English version of the CTP is preferable as the localized versions (German, French, Spanish & Italian) generate localized messages to other players who do not know the specific language and have to guess what the message says (it won't be hard to an experienced player at list most of the time ).
Ratings
All games will be rated by the CTP PBEM Ratings & Rankings system, but any player might choose to be unrated in a specific game.
Note: If you have any objection or any proposal about the rules please refer to the Keygen's PBEM Series: Proposals & Ideas!
